🥚🚨 IMPORTANT THURSDAY QUESTION…

We sell plenty of our own Free Range Eggs here at The Ole Railway every week… but there's one thing we need to settle. 😂

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO EAT AN EGG?! 👀

🍳 Fried — and that yolk better be runny!
🥚 Boiled — soldiers at the ready
🍞 Poached on toast
🥄 Scrambled
🍳 A good omelette
🥓 Or as part of a big fry with all the trimmings!

Our eggs don't have very far to travel — from our hens here on the farm to The Ole Railway, ready for you to take home. 🐔❤️

And that's one of the things we love most about having our little farm vending shop — being able to sell something produced right here on our own farm to people in our local community. 🥰

So come on…

👇 How are you having YOUR eggs?

And let's settle the biggest debate of all…

Runny yolk or hard yolk?! 😂🍳

🚨🚂 MEET THE TEAM – JUNIOR MANAGEMENT! 🚂🚨

You’ve met Mum & Dad… now it’s time to meet the ones who actually think they’re in charge around here. 😂

Introducing The Ole Railway Junior Management Team! 👩‍🌾🐔🥚

❤️ Olivia – Senior Management
An experienced member of the team at this stage! 😂 Olivia has grown up around the farm and The Railway and is well accustomed to checking on the hens, supervising the egg operation and generally making sure Daddy is doing things correctly. 🐔🚜
She's never too far away when there's a job to be done… although her terms and conditions usually involve snacks. 😂

💗 Kaitlyn – Head of Quality Control
If something needs inspected, tested, pressed, moved or investigated… Kaitlyn is your woman. 😂
She's particularly experienced in the egg department and isn't afraid to get stuck in. Judging by that smile beside all the eggs, we think she takes her position VERY seriously! 🥚😂

💙 Reuben – Trainee Manager
Our newest recruit! Currently still undergoing training and spending most of his shifts sleeping, eating and being transported around by senior management. 😂
Productivity levels are questionable… but he's very cute, so we've decided to keep him. 💙👶

Growing up on a farm means our little ones are always in the middle of it — from hens and eggs to tractors, wellies, animals and plenty of “helping” Mum & Dad. ❤️

And that's exactly what The Ole Railway is all about.

It's not a big company or a faceless business. It's our farm, our family and three little people growing up watching it all happen. 🥰🚜

Hopefully one day they'll look back at photos like these and realise just how lucky they were…

…although judging by the current management structure, Philip and I might be working for THEM by then. 😂🙈

☀️🚂 SUNDAY AT THE OLE RAILWAY🥚🥚

No alarms tomorrow, no Monday morning rush… sure that's reason enough for a wee Bank Holiday treat! 😂🙌

Whether you're out for a Sunday drive, visiting family, getting organised for the week ahead or just fancy escaping the house for ten minutes, we're here and stocked. ❤️

Call in for your farm fresh free-range eggs and Fresh Moo Milk… and while you're here, you might accidentally find yourself leaving with a little something extra. 👀😂
☕ Hot coffee
🍰 Fresh traybakes
🍦 Betty's Ice Cream
🥤 Cold drinks
🍯 Local honey
🥛 Fresh Moo Milk
🥚 Our own Free Range Eggs
…and lots more!
Sometimes it's the simple things — a Sunday drive, a good coffee and a wee treat. ❤️

🎒✏️ SCHOOLS ARE BACK… WE REPEAT, SCHOOLS ARE BACK! 😂🙌

After weeks of hearing “Mummyyy… Daddyyy… what are we doing today?”, the uniforms are on, the school bags are packed and some peace may finally be restored! 😂❤️

And to all the Mummies & Daddies doing the school run tomorrow…
Fear not — we’ve got you covered! ☕🍰
Simply tell everyone at home:
👉 “I’m just calling into The Ole Railway for eggs…” 🥚👀

What happens after that is entirely between you and The Railway. 😂

You may accidentally leave with…
☕ A lovely hot coffee
🍰 A fresh traybake (you've earned it!)
🍦 A Betty’s Ice Cream
🥤 A nice cold drink
🥛 Some Fresh Moo Milk
🍯 A jar of local honey
🥚 And yes… probably the eggs you originally came for! 😂

…plus plenty more little treats waiting for you. ❤️
So once you've successfully completed the first school drop-off, take the long way home and call into The Ole Railway. 🚗😂

No judgement here if that “quick stop for eggs” takes a little longer than expected… 🤫☕🍰
Good luck to all the little ones heading back to school — and an even bigger GOOD LUCK to the parents trying to get everyone out the door on time! 😂🎒❤️

👋🚂 MEET THE TEAM – THE FACES BEHIND THE OLE RAILWAY!

We thought it was about time we introduced ourselves properly! ❤️

If you've called into The Ole Railway, you've probably seen the milk, eggs, traybakes and treats… but you might not know much about the family working away behind the scenes.

So first up… Melissa & Philip! 👋

Don't let the first photo fool you… we're usually much more at home in the wellies! 😂🚜

🐔 Philip is the farmer of the operation! From looking after the hens and collecting eggs to keeping everything on the farm ticking over, there's always something needing done.

🍰📱 Melissa can usually be found somewhere between family life, baking traybakes, helping around the farm, restocking The Railway, sorting treats, taking photos, running the social media and, most importantly… coming up with another idea for Philip to do. 😂🙈

We've been married for 8 years, and over that time we've worked together, built our family and somehow added a little farm shop into the mix! ❤️

The Ole Railway really is a family-run business. What started as a way of selling some of our own farm produce has grown into something we're incredibly proud of — and something our whole family gets involved in.

As you can probably tell from the photos, farm life has always been very much a family affair around here. 🚜🐄🐔

And there are a few smaller (but very important!) members of The Ole Railway team still to introduce… 👀😂❤️

We genuinely couldn't do any of it without YOU — everyone who calls in, buys local, tells a friend, shares a post or simply continues to support our farm.

So from our family to yours, thank you. 🥰

🎒🥛 BACK TO SCHOOL WITH FRESH MOO MILK! 🥛🎒

The uniforms are nearly ready, school bags are packed (hopefully! 😂) and it’s nearly time for those busy school mornings again!

With the kids heading back to school, a good breakfast is a great way to start their day — and our Fresh Moo Milk makes an easy addition. ❤️

🥛 Milk naturally provides protein and calcium, along with a range of important vitamins and minerals.

Perfect for…

🥣 Pouring over their morning cereal
🥛 A cold glass alongside breakfast
🍌 Whizzing into a breakfast smoothie
☕ And, of course, a much-needed coffee for Mum & Dad after the school run! 😂

And because our Fresh Moo Milk is non-homogenised, don't forget to give the bottle a good shake before pouring to mix all that lovely creamy goodness back through. 🥛🤍

So while you're getting organised for the first week back, don't forget to add Fresh Moo Milk from The Ole Railway to the school-week essentials!

🎒✏️ Here's to full tummies, fresh uniforms and everyone actually making it out the door on time! 😂🤞

☀️🎒 THE LAST WEEKEND OF FREEDOM! 😂

The uniforms are nearly ready, the school bags are waiting and the alarm clocks are about to make their dreaded return… 😭⏰

But before all that — there’s still one last weekend of the summer holidays to enjoy! 🙌☀️

So why not make the most of it and call into The Ole Railway for a wee treat? 🚂❤️
🍦 Betty’s Ice Cream
🥤 Milkshakes & cold drinks
🍰 Traybakes & sweet treats
🥛 Fresh Moo Milk
🥚 And of course, our own farm fresh free-range eggs!

Because surely calories don't count on the last weekend before the school run starts again?! 😂

🥚🐔 Confidence in Local Eggs & Local Farmers 🐔🥚

Following recent reports of a UK-wide Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak potentially linked to imported eggs, the Ulster Farmers’ Union is encouraging consumers to continue to have confidence in locally produced eggs here in Northern Ireland.

We thought this was also a good opportunity to highlight just how much work goes on behind the scenes on local egg farms.🥚🐔

🐔 Hen houses here in Northern Ireland are subject to multiple inspections throughout the year by various agencies, helping to ensure that hen welfare standards are maintained and the required regulations are being followed.

For us, producing eggs isn’t simply about what ends up in the box. It’s about looking after our hens, maintaining high standards and producing a product that we’re proud to sell to our local community. ❤️

When you buy our free-range eggs from The Ole Railway, you’re buying eggs produced right here on our own farm — and supporting a local Northern Ireland farming family at the same time. 🚜🥚

As always, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to shop local and support local farmers.

🚜 Know where your food comes from. Choose local. Support local. 🐔🥚❤️

🥚 A Wee Favour From The Ole Railway! 🥚

We absolutely love seeing so many of our free range eggs heading out the door each week! ❤️

We just have one little favour to ask… if you have any of our egg trays sitting at home, we’d be really grateful if you could return them to us. ♻️🥚

We’re more than happy to reuse trays that are still in good condition, and getting them back helps us keep our packaging costs down — which in turn helps us keep our egg prices as low as we can. 🙌
So next time you’re calling for your eggs, milk, traybakes or a wee treat, bring your empty trays along with you. 😊

As always, a HUGE thank you to everyone who continues to support The Ole Railway and our little farm shop. Every purchase, share and recommendation really does mean so much to us. ❤️🐔
