I had a fantastic day at the Royal Three Counties Show. We had beautiful weather and a very scenic setting for the premier Irish Moiled Show in England. It was a real privilege to have been asked to Judge The Irish Moiles , Any other Dual purpose breed and the Dual purpose interbreed Championships.
I was accompanied in the ring for the Irish Moiled Classes by shadow Judge Lynn Arrowsmith herself a Long time Irish Moiled breeder .I hope to see Lynn taking on the duties on her own in the near future.
There was a good turn out of females with the heifer calf class being the strongest with a really good group of five heifers The top spot was a very close call between two very fine examples of the breed. Birdwood Gigi 2 a very eye catching young heifer bred and shown by Cian Elliott won the class and Betton Dahlla bred by Nathalie Chitty and very professionaly shown by the Keady view team came in a very close second. Both animals went on to take female and junior female Champion and Reserve Champion in both the female and junior female Championship. The cow class was also a strong class with Nathalie Chittys very well presented Betton Darcie with a strong bull calf at foot taking the top prize in front of Cian Elliotts Birdwood Gigi a very stylish young cow . The senior Heifer Class was taken by a very correct Woodhouse Primrose bred and exibited by Andrew Stone.
The pair of animals class was won by a beautiful pair of young heifers bred by Cian Elliott and shown by Miss Annabelle Tytler and Oliva Hayward. The pair of heifers class was taken by Mr Loyld Barnston.
Unfortunately the bull classes were were poorly supported on the day with the Senior bull been taken by Mr Andrew Stone with Ballycraigy Brian who also took male Champion.
Presented with the female and male Champions for the overall champion , it was an easy choice to give it to the very stylish correct heifer Cian Elliotts Birdwood Gigi 2 who went on to take Reserve Dual purpose interbreed Champion.
I would like to thank the Royal Three Counties for asking me to Judge. A big thank you to all the exhibitors for there hard work and all the Moilie people that manned the stand.
This was a very enjoyable and educational experience and with a long list of classes a very busy day. Three Counties
