Branding… what is it and why is it so important?
Branding is what makes your product unique. It’s what sets it apart from everything else available on the market.
When we started this business five years ago, we had a clear vision for our brand: clean and natural.
Our logo features a cow standing on the wall at the bottom of our lane. For years, everyone knew us as “the red brick house” (before we rendered it during our extensive renovations), and they knew the red brick wall with the lane on the Rathfriland Road. That’s where our burgundy colour came from.
The green we use, including on our market T-shirts, represents the green electricity we produce here on the farm.
And then there are our labels. We chose a clean, clear label because our product is clean. Our Greek and Natural yogurt contain only milk and cultures. Our flavoured yogurts are made using natural ingredients, with no unnecessary additives.
When designing our labels, I spent time researching supermarket shelves and comparing our products to others on the market. I noticed that no one else was using clear labels, and I felt they would look fresh, modern, and stand out on the shelf. Five years later, that is exactly what we have become known for.
The clear labels. The clean ingredients. The natural taste.
That is the unique branding of Ballydown Milk.
Branding and marketing are so important for the growth of any business. They help tell your story, build trust with customers, and show people exactly what makes your product different.
