🐴 If you’re visiting the Aberdeen Clydesdale Show, make a day of it! There will be lots of fabulous market stalls to browse and support, plus my daughter Beth from Lochside Clydesdales will be there with her beautiful Clydesdales Samson & Mae, offering horse-drawn carriage rides all day!

‼️LOCHTON OF LEYS FARM, BANCHORY ‼️
Not what you want to come across while checking your lambs this morning.

We’ve lost 5 lambs in what is clearly a dog attack they’ve been chased and killed. Absolutely devastating to see, and even worse knowing our ewes are now without their lambs.

A reminder to everyone: if you are walking near livestock, keep your dogs on a lead at all times. I don’t care how good you think their recall is chasing is a dog’s natural instinct, and once it kicks in, control is gone.

Under Scottish law, this is a criminal offence. The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) (Scotland) Act 2021 makes it illegal for a dog to chase, attack or “worry” livestock. Owners can face fines of up to £40,000 and/or up to 12 months in prison, and are liable for any damage caused. (Police Scotland)

Dog owners are also advised to keep dogs on a lead around livestock at all times, as even chasing alone is considered an offence. (mygov.scot)

If anyone witnessed anything or if you are the owner of the dog responsible, please come forward. We are devastated, and the impact on our flock is significant.
