Balcony beers and of course a bag of Lays before heading out.

This evening is a clasica, 330ml tin, 4.8% and about the ยฃ1.40 a tin mark.

Malty notes from the tin and a nice soft malty bready flavours, sharp and refreshing and a solid 6/๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ for the price versus punch ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

A beautiful Serie V Melanio Gran Reserva Limitada was the order of the day yesterday. A nice medium to full flavoured Cigar in a Robosto 5" 52 Gauge, which comes as a box pressed.

Lovely dark Ecudorian Sumatra wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan Jalapa Valley Habano filler, I havent had these in years but managed to get hold of a small box on travels as the UK prices can be a bit spicey at the ยฃ30+ mark.

The build quality is amazing, quite soft as box pressed but a perfect draw throughout, lovely woody/dry nutty notes to start, which progresses to some spice in the 2nd third and the last third, I can only describe as smoking a Chocolate Bourbon Biscuit, with nice dulled coffee notes and although a medium/full i think this verges more on the full flavoured end, as its a lovely heavy smoking Cigar. It gives a good hour plus of smoking.

Im a big fan of everything ,but the Melanio's are something else, looking forward to my next one of these.

I think these are definitely now firmly placed in my top 10 to always have in the Humidor. A light, creamy smoker, classed as a medium to full, id probably go medium to light, nice spice right through and a fantastic build as expected from Davidoff in a good sized 5" 54 gauge Cigar, giving a good hour of relaxation with it.

Just need to stock up on the way home in the Duty Free.

Exploring done and back for a balcony beer ๐Ÿบ

A session IPA was lifted, a 33cl tin and 4.5% and about ยฃ1.10

Lovely sharp bitter malty taste, rounded off with salty orange flavours and a touch of zesty notes as well.

Lovely refreshing wee beer solid 6/๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ for that.

Happy Whiskey Wednesday, technically a Friday eve as a week off work looms ever closer, so a bottle kill and due recognition to a fantastic Whiskey.

An 8 year old SPS, at a dangerously easy drinking 55%, from in collab with with the second stonking pick of a liquid.

I have loved every drop of this and im very lucky to have another sitting which wont be long getting into as well.

It was always going to be good from Shortcross anyway, but this one has been one of my favourite releases from them, see my review for a full rundown if you scroll below, David has knocked this one out the park.

There are still a few of these left on the website, il be getting another when the cork flys off my replacement, but this is a beaut of a dram, well done guys, that has been enjoyable from start to finish.

Happy Humpday Folks, hope your glass is full !

Truth be told I was never a big fan of doing my homework growing up there was always better things to be getting on with.

That sentiment in adult life changes completely when it comes in the form of Whiskey homework courtesy of !

Im not going to go into the whys and whats of this very generous assignment by Aaron, that can be done by the man himself, but what I will say, after some cheeky nosing, im going to enjoy this immensely and again a big thank you for the opportunity Sir, really appreciate it.

Love a good cryptic post around Whiskey like an old school "PM me hun" fashion, but im excited to see this unfold for the Irish Whiskey loving community, let's get sipping.

Just back from a couple of days in Donegal, managed to get down to to grab another bottle of the recently released PX, this time to get one opened.

This is their Batch 1 direct fired Single Malt, fully matured in a 500L Spanish Oak Butt from Juan Pino in Spain, with the Cask being seasoned for 24 months with PX, its bottled at 58.77% and a bottle of this limited release is around the ยฃ125 mark, NAS, with only 698 bottles available.

I have tried this twice now, so it sealed the deal on getting this one opened as soon as we got home to get into it properly.

Poured and to the nose, sweet ripe dark plum is the first thing to jump out, a little new make and bite from that 58%, the dark fruit note on this just builds and builds in the glass, custard powder dust, then a real dirty gritty earthy note, burnt demerara sugar and a sharp wood tanins. The nose on this is so thick you can almost taste it.

On the lips, a dry sweet spice washes over your tongue, boiled brandy balls sweets, chilli jam, theres a balsamic note there as well, as the spice eases and takes you to a long juicey dark jammy finish, you are left with a salty, briney almost light bbq sauce taste, this is such a chewy Whiskey I love the depth in it and that colour is amazing.

Adding a tiny touch of water in this smooths out that spicey grip it has on your tongue, promoting more raisin like sweet fruit notes, with parma violets on the nose, but still holds its rawness, but I prefer the kick and flavours of the unaltered full cask strength in the glass.

This is a big yes for me, scoring this and taking in the cost bracket of the plus ยฃ120 bottles around the same, im giving this an 8/๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ thats a really treat of a pour, stands out with its flavour against two of my favourite bottles at the moment which have the same vibe, it is pricey, but its a small Distillery and release, the bottle is stunning and comes in a beautiful display box, so it feels like you got your moneys worth.

Im going to enjoy this one on the "special" occasions and excuses I can make up to lift this out, cant wait to get a cigar lit with a pour of this, definitely going on the favourite shelf.

Treated myself to a few ci**rs to top up the hum's ready for the brighter days and managed to get hold of some of these thanks to a mate flying home.

Davidoff is one of my favourite treat ci**rs, elegant and always beautiful flavours, there is just something about them that turns every smoke of one into a lovely experience.

This is the Millennium Short Robusto, a 4.25" 52 RG Cigar, and a medium flavoured cigar, but having had a robosto of one of these i find these pushing up into a full bodied smoke, as it has a higher percentage of Piloto to***co so heaps of chocolate and intense roasted coffee notes throughout and woody undertones and burnt crust.

Wrapper wise it is a connecticut from Ecuador but has a lovely darkened leaf from the aging, binder is San Vicente Seco from Dr and the filler is a combination of San Vicente Ligero, Piloto Seco, Piloto Ligero, Hybrid Olor and Piloto Seco from DR, so packed with rich beautiful flavours that go hand in hand with an Espresso.

So whilst the lovely wife is out, im going to have a bit of me time and contemplate life, relax and nod internally to a pretty decent weekend.

Which may also be deserving of a dram.

"Controversial Sunday" Topic, let's get into it.

Love him or hate him McGregor is a markerting force and genius to be reckoned with (my opinion), ive been a massive UFC fan from the early days of no weight classes and the Royce Gracie days, so when the Notorious burst onto the scene, for Ireland it was amazing and I followed him relentlessly .... but whats that got to do with Whiskey, Beers and Ci**rs ?

Well, he had his Whiskey, he launched a stout and now we have Ci**rs, so had to complete the 3.

I got this sample pack from .ci**rs which comes with a Toro 6 x50, Double Robusto 5.5 x54 and a Corona Gordo 5.25 x46 for ยฃ65

These are made by MJ Friars ,the only other exposure ive had to any of their Ci**rs is via Gurkha which i also enjoy.

These are a medium to full body, with an aged Ecuador Habano wrapper and San Andrรฉs binder, ive had a look online but cant seem to find the filler details, but il keep looking and post when I light one.

These look stunning and well made, the proof will be in the lighting which im looking forward to and will report back on.

So ....... whats your thoughts ?

A sour before dinner

This is "Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries" from an infused sour beer with Scottish Strawberries of course at 4.5% in a 440ml tin.

Tarty jammie Stawberry nose, do get that chocolate as well but comes along with a lactic smell, same on the sip, lovely sharp fruity flavour, milk chocolate, touch of rhubarb and bitterness and overall a really good drinking sour beer, solid 7/๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ for that one.
