Spring into Volunteering with Valley Park 🌸🐝🪻
Over the past few weeks, we’ve well and truly sprang into action at Valley Park, and what a busy, rewarding start it’s been!
Our volunteering is back up and running, and it’s already been filled with lots of meaningful moments and plenty of community spirit.
We’ve kicked things off with a range of regular activities that are already making a real impact:
Mondays: We’ve partnered with St Mary’s Church in Wombwell, helping at their welcoming food bank and community café. It’s a brilliant space that brings people together, and we’re proud to play a part in supporting those who need it most.
Tuesdays: We have been caring for Wombwell Park. From litter picking to gardening, our team has been hard at work keeping Wombwell Park looking its best.
Last week was extra special as we supported the Friends of Wombwell Park Easter Event, and what a fantastic day it was!
Around 100 children joined in with their families for a day full of fun activities, including:
• Crafting Easter baskets
• Planting seeds
• Painting sun catchers
• Decorating pebbles
• A very exciting bunny hunt
There was even a special visit from the Easter Bunny!
We had our Volunteers getting fully involved in the arts and crafts, making easter baskets, and helped create such a memorable experience for the children. With beautiful sunshine throughout the day, it truly was a day to remember.
Wednesdays: We have made a start to support the Friends of Wombwell Cemetery.
Our volunteers have also been lending a helping hand at Wombwell Cemetery, carrying out important clean-up work. Recently, the team focused on clearing weeds and tidying pathways, including the garden areas where babies are laid to rest, a meaningful and respectful effort we’re incredibly proud of.
We also joined forces with the local council and community partners to take part in the Great British Spring Clean, helping to tidy up the local area through litter picking and community clean-up efforts.
So far, we are incredibly proud of the strong start we’ve made and the positive difference our teams are already creating. This is just the beginning… and we’re excited to keep building on this momentum and continuing to support our local community in meaningful ways.
Looking ahead, we’re exploring even more volunteering opportunities and are excited to be restarting our partnership with FareShare to further support local food banks.
A big thank you to Zedrick, Florentino, Peter, Andy, Monika, Rasa, Paolo, Kieron, Gligor, Eivan, Simon, Lorena, Marcelina, Lee, David, Louise, and to everyone who has volunteered so far or signed up for the future. Your support truly makes a difference, thank you!
At Valley Park, we’re truly springing into action and making a difference where it matters most!
