We are open to the public every day, have a cafe on site and offer experiences and birthday parties 😀 Wigfield Farm has three main functions:

A working farm producing livestock,

A base for Barnsley College courses in Horticulture and Animal care,

An Open Farm and Visitors Centre accessible to the local and wider community. The farm is situated approximately 2 miles south west of Barnsley next

to Worsbrough Country Park. Although farm staff are employed, the day to day work of the farm is undertaken by students following one of our many programmes of study thus providing a realistic working environment in which to develop their skills and knowledge. Wigfield Farm is situated on the Dove Valley Trail section of the Trans-Pennine Trail, and provides a perfect visitor attraction at which to refresh yourself in our cafe and shop facility. The farm has a wide range of animals including meerkats, cows, goats, horses, ponies, donkeys, miniature zebu, pigs, sheep, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits and much more. There is also an exotics room with a variety of reptiles which although it isn't open to the public, people do get to view them at public events, organised group visits or as part of a VIP experience. We do school visits, VIP animal experiences and we do animal adoptions and enclosure sponsorship. We can provide gift vouchers and we also hold a variety of activities and events throughout the year.

🐑✨ Meet our very own sheep whisperer! ✨🐑
Agriculture student Scarlett has been working hard with her sheep in preparation for Pen*stone Agricultural Show — and judging by this photo, she’s definitely found her sheep-whispering skills! 😍🐑

✨️ dog friendly!
✨️ super cheap
✨️ plenty of places for the kids to play
✨️ easy parking (free)
✨️ lots of local walks nearby to add on (we sometimes park at Worsbrough Mill and walk from there)

Our amazing students this week focused on getting their sheep to stand correctly for judging 🐑, continuing halter training the goats as well as cleaning and hoof trimming them in readiness for Pen*stone Agricultural Show 🐐😍 As you can see our students are doing brilliantly and putting into practice everything they've learnt so far 👏🤩

Amazing review on Tripadvisor for a recent birthday party held here at the farm 🥳
"We had our sons 5th birthday party at Wigfield Farm. It was really straightforward to organise with clear and helpful communication with Kat and Lana ahead of the big day.
On the day of the party itself, Kat and Lana were ready to greet us and all of our guests before kicking off the party with a VIP tour of the farm. The children loved being able to stroke a lizard and snake in the reptile house before visiting the pigs and the new piglets. At the Guinea pigs the birthday boy was allowed to hold one whilst everyone else got to stroke one. The birthday boy then got to feed the rabbits before he was taken into the meerkat enclosure for a close up encounter to feed them.

After this it was food in the birthday hut before the children were able to play outside. Our son and his friends absolutely loved their visit to Wigfield Farm. The event definitely exceeded our expectations and Kat and Lana went out of their way to make it a special day for everyone."
