What a day! A fantastic day at Academy of Cheese Affineur of the Year 2026 competition yesterday.

My first competition and one I was slightly nervous about, but it was a truly inspiring event with so many amazing cheesemakers and mongers displaying their affinage skills and celebrating this incredible industry.

Picking up the People’s Choice Award for my smoked hay-infused mead-washed Quicke's Cheddar really did top off an incredible day. This job never gets boring!

Shout-out to Simon and James The Courtyard Dairy on picking up the big win, thoroughly deserved!

Part 2 of wedding cheesecake fun.

Cheesemonger by day, groomsman and Cheesemonger by night.

A delicious cheesecake for 2 very good humans. We chose a balance of creamy, strong, soft and aged so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

If you’re looking for a wedding cheesecake, get in touch — we’d love to talk you through a selection to suit. We can’t guarantee the cheesemonger will arrive dressed for the occasion, but the selection will be just as considered 😆

Two years ago we took over South West Cheese shop. Today my wife put a sparkler in a cheesecake (my favourite cheese alternative) and handed me a hat. This is what success looks like…

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far - new customers, regulars, people who’ve travelled far and wide for delicious cheese.

We genuinely wouldn’t be here without you, and we don’t take that lightly. Here’s to many more years of good cheese, good people, and hopefully less birthday hats…

A showstopper for your big day 🧀

We put together a wedding cheesecake for our close friends big day recently - watch out for part 2 when I actually assemble the full thing in suit mode.

The cheese selection is always my favourite part.

Getting the balance right between creamy, strong, soft and aged so there’s something for everyone is more considered than people think.

If you’re going cheesecake instead of traditional:

> Start with something soft and crowd-pleasing
> Bring in one or two stronger cheeses for contrast
> Vary the textures and colours — it should look as good as it tastes
> Include something familiar alongside the bolder choices
