🏠🧁 A LITTLE SECRET FROM PURDYS BAKEHOUSE… 🧁🏠
This is a bit of a different post from us, but we thought it was time to let you in on a little secret… 👀❤️
Behind the scenes this year, we’ve been quietly exploring the possibility of moving Purdys Bakehouse into bigger premises in Barrow town centre! 🥹
Our dream is to create something even bigger and better, allowing us to expand our opening hours and what we offer. Think Bakehouse, Gift Shop, Dessert Shop and Farm Shop all rolled into one! 🍰🍦🎁🛍️
As many of you know, we’ve been in our lovely little shop for the past six years. We’ve poured an enormous amount of love, time, hard work and money into making it what it is today, and it really does hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️
However, if we’re going to take that next exciting step and expand, it would mean reluctantly selling our original bakery building.
Now, before the rumours start flying… 😂 NOTHING IS SET IN STONE!
We haven’t found our dream new premises yet, and no firm decisions have been made. One thing we are absolutely certain about is that we want to stay in Barrow town centre! We’re passionate about our town and want to continue being part of its future for many more years.
But we thought, why not put the feelers out and see whether there might be somebody interested in buying our current building? 🏠
🔑 A LITTLE ABOUT OUR BUILDING…
Since purchasing the property six years ago, we’ve invested heavily in bringing it up to the fantastic condition it’s in today, including:
✨ Completely rewired throughout
✨ Three-phase electricity installed
✨ New hot water tank
✨ CCTV installed to the front and rear
✨ Replastered throughout with new ceilings
✨ Entirely new shopfront fascia
✨ Brand-new roof installed in October 2025, with approximately 14 years remaining on its 15-year guarantee!
✨ New staircase installed into the cellar
✨ New staff toilet and additional bathroom installed upstairs (we’ve been advised by architects it would get planning permission for a 2 bedroom flat upstairs)
✨ Private parking to the rear
The building is in fantastic condition, in a brilliant town centre location, with lovely neighbouring businesses and so much potential for somebody looking for their own commercial premises.
It would genuinely be a very sad and reluctant sale for us, but if it means we can grow Purdys into something even more special, while continuing to invest in Barrow town centre, then it’s something we’re willing to explore. ❤️
🏠 We would be chain-free and can be extremely flexible with timescales, particularly as our own expansion plans are still in the early stages.
