There is such joy in pea shoots; their curling tendrils, tender leaves and sweet flavour picked straight from the pod. I love to tumble a handful over a salad or tuck them beside warm fish, where they soften just a little in the heat. They bring freshness, a gentle crunch and lovely sense of life to the plate.

Join me at The Kitchen Table on Wednesday 25th November to hear more from my new book, The Saffron Table: Food For Gatherings

Heading into a meeting with a 'morsel of deliciousness' to brighten a very dreary day. These are my famous frangipani tartlets. Son no.2's absolute fave...fig and pistachio with a berry conserve ooze. Perfect with Earl Grey.
