Sunday food + wine pairing 🍷
This beautiful Burgundy found its way into our home cellar as part of Paul’s birthday selection.
It’s a Pinot Noir from the Nuits-Saint-Georges area. A 2017 vintage and drinking beautifully.
Silky, soft and elegant. It’s a stunner from one of my favourite producers.
Today we enjoyed it with a sausage casserole (thanks to Tom Kerridge for the recipe 😂)
The tomato, paprika sauce with plenty of Chorizo paired magnificently with the wine.
The combination really highlighted the cherry fruit flavours in the wine.
I think Pinot Noir is a great choice for most occasions, light enough but not too fruity.
This particular wine is a bit of a splurge ££ but that’s what happens when I let Paul choose 😂
Most wine countries grow Pinot Noir and it’s really varied, from Smokey to fruity and all sorts in between.
The best does come from France (in my opinion!) but I’m happy to try all the others for you just to check 😅
Happy Sunday, Sarah x
