May we introduce our Wine of the week !

MÂCON VILLAGES
Chardonnay

This is what has taken our fancy recently...

A beautiful white wine, pale gold in colour,
floral and fruity aromas with hints of lemon, mint and honeysuckle.
This is perfect on its own but if you're eating fish, creamy chicken dishes or nibbling on goats cheese, then this is the drop for you !
Great drinking now or good for ageing for 6 years after vintage.
Pop in and see what takes your fancy !

If you've popped in to the shop for a tasty bottle of wine, and left with a scrummy jar of local honey too, you may have wondered who's behind the sweet stuff.
Well, here's the' Honey Man ', Our Graham, and it's his Birthday today!
If he isn't busy with bees, he's often helping us out with local deliveries so we'd like to thank him for all his help ( and supplying us with the best honey in town ), and wish him a very Happy Birthday 🎈

John is away for a couple of days, so the Barnes Bros will be running the shop.
Opening hours today will be a little different.
2-7pm today and back to normal tomorrow ( 11-7pm )
Come say Hello to these little fellas and find a nice bottle of wine to re-home.
They're really quiet nice and will do their best to help you.

Our Wine of the Week is ready for you !

Ontañón Rioja.
Whilst not exactly mainstream, White Rioja is now most definitely a ' Thing '.
With examples like this, it's easy to see why.
This wine is aged according to the White Rioja method...
4 months in American Oak, followed by 6 months in bottle prior to release.
Opulent aromas of pear and Jasmine, with tropical notes of well integrated, but obvious oak.
The palate is poised with Vanilla oak characters but left fresh by balanced acidity.
Flavours of pineapple, crisp lemon and brioche notes on the finish.

Perfect with prawns in the BBQ, creamy pasta dishes and grilled chicken.

Well worth fireing up the BBQ for !

We've got some stunning new English wines on our shelf just in time for
St George's Day.
We reckon that if the man himself wasn't busy racing around slaying dragons, he'd be chilling in the garden with a 2024 Pinot Noir, crafted in Cambridgeshire from Williams Family Wines.
An inviting melody of ripe red berries, cherries, plum and a subtle blend of spice, refined for seven months in a combination of English and French Oak.
OR.... Maybe he'd kick back with a glass of 2024 Chardonnay from their boutique vineyard.
This delivers a blend of zesty citrus, crisp green apples and delicate hints of vanilla.

We're often asked for English wines and now you can try these new arrivals to our shop.
They really are a lovely drop !

We've got stacks of brand new wine in the shop and we take our job very seriously, so Chick has accepted the task of sampling one of the new wines to our shelves.
This one is a Chenin Blanc, with a very cool label.
This iconic grape from South Africa is Chick's cup of tea !
This is a very versatile white, smooth and creamy with notes of white melon, citrus and ripe peach.
Prefect on it's own, or pair with white fish, BBQ bork or a big bowl of peanuts !
( Chicks plan tonight ! )

We have something for everyone, and John is always on hand to help.
