Our Winter Wine Tastings are returning!

As the vineyard settles into the quieter months, we’re getting ready to welcome you back to Hungerhill Vineyard for a cosy and intimate tasting experience.

Step inside our winery, discover how we make our wines here in Bedfordshire, and taste a selection of our latest still and upcoming sparkling wines, including the chance to sample some straight from the tank. 🥂

☀️🍷 OUR SUMMER WINE SALE IS HERE! 🍷☀️

Do you remember Harvest 2023? 🍇
Six days of hand-picking, October sunshine (and rain!), colder mornings, familiar faces, new volunteers… and a lot of wine.
We picked 1.8 tonnes of Meunier, 3.5 tonnes of Chardonnay and 4 tonnes of Pinot Noir, but picking was only half the story.
After a morning in the vines, everyone would gather back at the winery, open a bottle of Col Fondo and sit down for an à la bonne franquette lunch with cheese, desserts and plenty of Merstone wine. 🍷
That was Harvest 2023. And somehow, Harvest 2026 is already around the corner.
One harvest makes way for another, and we need to make some room in the stockroom.

We still have a selection of our 2023 still wines, and rather than simply clearing the shelves, we wanted to give this vintage a proper send-off.
Maybe you picked with us that year and fancy a few bottles connected to that harvest. Or maybe you just want to stock the wine rack ahead of dinner parties, birthdays and… dare we say it already… Christmas.

An early start in the winery this morning!

Bottling began at 7am to beat the heat, with the current heatwave bringing temperatures of up to 37°C.

Today, we bottled 1,200 bottles of our 2025 Blanc de Blancs, made from 100% Chardonnay and, as Andrew calls it, our “Eclipse Blanc de Blancs” 🌘🥂

Now the waiting begins… 24 months of ageing before disgorgement.

Summer at Hungerhill Vineyard 🌞

It’s been a fantastic start to the summer here at Hungerhill!
Our Summer Wine Tastings returned and have completely sold out—thank you to everyone who booked to spend time with us in the vineyard.

Our first Wine & Pizza Evening on 11th July was also a huge success. It was such a pleasure to welcome back so many familiar faces while also meeting plenty of new ones. The evening was filled with a wonderful atmosphere, delicious wood-fired pizzas from Stu and his newly converted van, and plenty of great wine. 🍕🍷

It was especially exciting to see how much everyone enjoyed our wines, with our Pet Nat proving to be the star of the evening and the most popular choice!

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the vineyard has been thriving. The combination of careful winter pruning, drone frost protection, and nutrient management has really paid off, and the vines have never looked so vigorous.

Like many vineyards this year, we’re keeping a close eye on a little powdery mildew and doing everything we can to keep the vines healthy as the grapes continue to ripen.

And finally… Harvest is getting closer! 🍇
We’ve just launched our Harvest 2026 Waiting List on our website. Every year we invite a small group of volunteers to help hand-pick the grapes that will become our next vintage—a truly unique experience and one of our favourite times of the year.

This winter, we’re introducing a brand new Friday night event at Hungerhill Vineyard:�Wine & Raclette

A relaxed Friday evening of melted raclette cheese, a generous spread of charcuterie, and great wine.

A little rewind of 2025… in photos ✨

January
We started the year by closing the vineyard to focus on improving our tasting room so we can welcome you all year round. With new windows and a wood burning stove.
And of course… pruning season began! Over 15,000 vines carefully pruned by hand by Andrew, Catherine & Juliet.

February
Our first winter tastings of the year began, and the vineyard work continued with pruning, nurturing the soil, and preparing for the season ahead.

March
The pruning finally came to an end and we moved on to mulching between the vine rows and bottling new wines.

April
The first signs of spring arrived. Tiny leaves started appearing, and we installed deer fencing to protect our newest vines; Pinot Noir Précoce.

May
We planted a new section of vines; Pinot Blanc, with S J Barnes Limited.
And our Col Fondo was featured and praised in Drinks Retailing 🍾

June
A month full of celebrations!
At the IEWA 2025 Awards, we won 2 medals 🏅
•⁠ ⁠Col Fondo , Gold
•⁠ ⁠Bacchus 23, Silver
We also hosted our first Wine Friends event with Winnica Jassafor our wine club members, we also welcomed you back for our pizza evenings (thank you Stu for the delicious pizza), and had the visit of Blake Stephenson MP during English Wine Week.

July & August
Summer tastings were in full swing ☀️
We also had an amazing opportunity to be providing our wines for Export 56. Then,we bottled sparkling wine by hand, with huge support from Will and Champagne Fire Truck 🥂
Then… harvest season arrived early, with our first pick starting 25th August, a massive thank you to everyone who helped us with the harvest !

September & October
Harvest continued, followed by fermentation and the start of our next vintage journey.
And by Halloween, we were back with our cosy Winter Tasting Experience.

November
Another brilliant Wine Friends event with Mallard Point, later that month Andrew & Catherine attended the first IEWA tasting event in Bristol, showcasing Hungerhill Vineyard wine alongside award-winning independent English vineyards.
We also disgorged and released our first Classic Cuvée Traditional Method, a truly special moment to close the year.
