WEEK 1

🌻Sunflower Update🌻

This time last week we were sowing.

1 week on & they are beginning to appear.

Took until WEEK 10 in 2025 for us to beable to do PYOs.

Lets see if same this year.

Will stick to same '10' model as last year.

£10 per ticket for 10 Stems with 10am start for maximum of 10 people per event.

750 plants in (minus 12 Zinnia to do tomorrow)

A few failures encountered along the way, but to be expected.

Now to decide on dates in July, August & September to fit around holidays.

Last year we just did 1hr PYO Sunflower events on Saturday at 10am because 10am is an Ideal time for picking & avoiding heatwave issues.

Thinking this yr we might...

1. pop in a few week PYO events too.
2. Add in tea & cake option after some PYOs
3. Add in option to do 2 plot* PYO

Another Day Of Dodging Rain....

One bonus. No need to water these babies in.

Have just seen a few posts about "sustainable flowers".

Me thinks "Nature>Nurture" should be factored in. This is my reasoning for only growing sun loving/drought loving" stems this year.

My aim is to only water them (if it hasnt rained) twice a week & document the time ive had to spend nurturing them.

🌸✨ EXCITING NEWS! ✨🌸

Our Pick Your Own Flowers experience is returning to Oakley this summer.

The first row is planted and the dahlias are in the ground, which means we're officially on our way to another PYO season.

This year, I'm creating a PYO flower field filled with sun-loving, drought-tolerant flowers and fillers:

💜 Amaranthus
🌸 Cosmos
🌺 Dahlias
🌹 Roses
💜 Statice
🌾 Strawflowers
🌈 Zinnias

I'm working hard to get the entire plot planted and established before releasing tickets, so keep an eye on this page for updates and sneak peeks as the flowers grow.
