Very grateful to receive a bag of the new Just Live a Little toppers and just knew we had to have it on a salad first. We went with a simple Greek salad and gyros. I even ate mine in a wrap which worked so well with the crunch of the topper.

I also spotted both new flavours in the nuts and fruits section of the salad aisle in Tesco

The caramelised pecans are insanely good!! I can see how they’d perfectly work as both sweet and savoury.

But should we go for yogurt, porridge, or something a bit more decadent next time? 😜

Late to this trend and waaay overusing it but I thought this was a fun way to recap our week in Malaga which wasn’t a foodie holiday but still ended up full of amazing food!

We headed to Torremelinos twice to go to Los Bandoleros and have zero regrets. The food was amazing, and I even got MrCB to try (and like!!) seafood which he is usually vehemently against.
📍 Chiringuito Los Bandoleros | 100% SIN GLUTEN

It did amuse me when G ordered the melon. You can tell he isn’t gf and totally sick of having it at every wedding and function ever! It was still super tasty though.

I miss when Belfast had its own arepa shop. Now they are one of our go to options when we’re travelling and these were phenomenal

📍 Budare Bistro

Seriously we love them so much we went for them twice in a row in two different restaurants!

📍 Pasapalo Restaurant

For real though I thought I was ordering the palmera to takeaway for later but I had zero regrets. The only issue was that it was so warm in Malaga city that the ice cream turned to soup super fast!
📍 Heladeria y pastelería Gluten free & Vegan

We stayed just outside the main city in guadalmar Sol by Melia. We had a fab stay there and it was the perfect mix of quiet and peaceful but not too far from anywhere. Staff were so accommodating and I got to flex my very poor Spanish muscles while going through what was safe and not safe in the restaurants.

Not the only stash of breads I brought with us but the one I actually needed to use! Love these new Warburtons Gluten Free flatbreads. They were perfect for filling with various meats and cheeses in the continental bar so that I could snack later on when we didn’t want to trek too far from the pool.

I mean… duh…

📍 El PASTELERO REAL sin gluten we sadly didn’t get a chance for churros because more customers arrived and I panicked but I got the most amazing custard doughnut and, of course, another Palmera!

Whether mini or gigantic I think these are my favourite Spanish treat.

We nipped in to a couple of different shops just to see what they had on offer but we hit the jackpot at Cortes Ingles with this massive gf aisle and also a gf sushi kiosk! Let’s just say we used every ounce of our baggage allowance on the way home 😆

Did not expect this rollercoaster of gluten free panic and advocacy from during a Greggs review!! 😂 glad she’s keeping Tom safe from himself on his gf journey!

📍 PEPITO

A recent date night at Pepito in Ballyhackamore to get us in the mood for our next holiday. We’ve wanted to try here since it opened as we love tapas and it did not disappoint.
A lovely relaxed vibe, much more family friendly than I expected and no pretensions. This is somewhere I hope becomes a neighbourhood staple for years to come much like their nearby cousin Neills Hill.

Our server talked us through the menu and got the chefs to tick which dishes were naturally gluten free or could be adapted. They explained they had separate fryers and separate prep areas and we were more than happy to order!

Side note: Not my favourite way to go through a menu (just print it with the ticks or actually label what’s gfo) but better than the “just order something and we’ll let you know if it can be done” a lot of places are doing nowadays.
I know that health inspectors are discouraging labelling in shared kitchens but if you’re confident in your staff then show it on the page!

Can we appreciate that perfect quails egg?

Scallops with bacon.
Slightly over cooked but tasty nonetheless!

Even MrCB had a go and he’s notoriously averse to seafood 😆

When there’s wings we order wings. That’s the rule. These were so yummy and the hot honey wasn’t overwhelming.

Perfectly crispy

A spicy mango margarita. Not too spicy thankfully but perfectly mangoey 😋

Chicken tagine without the cous cous. This was the only dish we ordered where they had to leave something off the plate. It was tasty but not being offered an alternative to whatever is taken off the plate will always irk me.

The fries I ordered to replace the cous cous. We probably didn’t need two plate of fries but when you don’t know portions and the dishes are brought out as and when they are ready I always think a random extra plate of chips doesn’t go wasted. And these didn’t.

However the harissa chips were so tasty and better cooked! They were so crispy i def stole a few more than i should have given that it was G that ordered them 🤣

My standout dish. Jamon with quails egg, crispy potatoes and aioli. Oh my days. The creaminess of the egg mixed in with those gorgeous matchstick potatoes and then

Quite proud of MrCB’s first attempt at a pico de gallo/salsa verde and carne asda 💚

Feast your eyes on this, the most perfectly ripe avocado ever.
