RNLI Fundraiser | Cooke in the Community

We are proud to support the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) gala fundraising day on the westside of Shetland tomorrow.

There will be a buzz of activity and excitement near our Aith shorebase as families come along to enjoy this much-anticipated annual event.

As local salmon producers in the area, we are delighted that by supporting the gala day, it will help raise funds for the UK's largest charity that saves lives at sea.

Engineering Great Ideas in Shetland | Careers with Cooke

Dozens of local school pupils got the chance yesterday to learn more about our salmon farming operations and got stuck into an engineering challenge!

Cooke Scotland partnered with Developing the Young Workforce - Shetland and other local businesses to deliver a range of engineering activities to 88 young people from three Shetland schools at the Eid Hall & Rankin lounge.

The secondary two and three pupils were set the task to build a vessel that would be buoyant and hold a lot of weight. This activity showed them how buoyancy, water displacement, density, and structural design allows heavy objects to float.

The star design could hold a total of 174 two pence pieces!

Farm to Fork School Visit | Cooke in the Community

Cooke Scotland team members in Shetland were pleased to visit pupils at the Mossbank Primary School and share insights into our Atlantic salmon farming operations.

The primary one to three pupils, who are currently learning about Farm to Fork, got stuck into a hands-on activity gathering seabed samples - just like our Environmental Officers! The children sieved sand samples to locate various shells and then used our information sheets to identify their finds. There was great excitement after a few cowrie shells were discovered in the trays!

United in the Fight Against Cancer | Cooke in the Community

It was a real honour for Cooke Scotland to be main sponsors of the 2026 CRUK Relay For Life - Shetland.

The event which took place between 12 noon and 12 midnight on Saturday at the Clickimin track in Lerwick, raised funds for the world’s largest cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, Cancer Research UK.

The total raised so far is at a staggering £103,835. Well done to everyone on their fundraising achievements!

We are proud to have joined you all to remember loved ones, honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress in research that is being made.

Environmental Officer – Stephanie | Meet Team Cooke

Meet Stephanie, our Environmental Officer based in Shetland. Stephanie is part of the team responsible for using the Deep Trekker ROV to get a better picture of the seabed below our sites.

🗣️“The most rewarding part of my job is being in the marine environment. I’ve been lucky enough to see whales, dolphins and fish, and weird sea creatures from the bottom of the sea - and even a baby octopus once!” 🐙

During each farming cycle, Cooke is responsible for monitoring the seabed within and beyond the salmon pens. Check out some of the amazing images Stephanie captured while using the ROV! 📸

Tee-riffic Golf Tournament | Cooke in the Community

We were proud to support our local golf club in Invergordon by sponsoring the Three Ball Better Ball contest. Partnerships like this help bring people together, support local sport and strengthen the connections in the community.

Our feed mill based in the Highland town is just five minutes away from Invergordon Golf Club course. Northeast Nutrition Scotland (NNS) is where we produce our complete feed which supplies all our UK freshwater and seawater salmon farming operations.

Well done to all who took part on the course - including some of our NNS team members pictured!

Roof Replaced for Shetland Agricultural Show Shed | Cooke in the Community

We are proud to continue our support of the Yell Show with funding towards new roof sheets for one of the event sheds.

The isle of Yell is a large crofting community, and the annual show is a great family event in the Shetland calendar where locals can showcase their livestock, produce and crafts with pride.

Much-needed repairs to the shed roof will help keep the show running smoothly and also offer a water-tight storage space to use throughout the winter months.

Cooke’s core purpose is to cultivate the ocean with care, nourish the world, provide for our families and build stronger communities. We look forward to joining the community at the show in September.
