🇯🇵 When the meeting finally makes it out of the WhatsApp chat!

Wonderful to again catch up with our Japanese friends — but this time they came to us in Derbyshire, hand-delivering our certificates from the Tokyo Wh**ky & Spirits Competition 2026. 🏆

A proud moment for the team, with Wire Works Caduro named Best English Wh**ky(picking up a superior gold), and White Peak Distillery awarded Best English Distillery.

We packed plenty into their 48 hours in Derbyshire, with visits to Ashbourne, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Wirksworth and Curbar Edge. Lots of laughs, plenty of Google Translate and some invaluable help from our eldest daughter Maddie (1 year in Kagoshima) keeping the conversations flowing!

A big thank you to the team at .taproom for extending such a warm welcome. Thornbridge has been part of our wh**ky-making story from the beginning, supplying the spent brewer’s yeast from their Jaipur IPA that we use in our fermentations. It was lovely to share another part of the Wire Works story with our friends from Japan.

Thank you for making the journey to see us. We hope you enjoyed your little taste of Derbyshire!

A Wire Works autumn dram 🥃

🥃 Wire Works Pineau des Charentes | A closer look

We caught up with Tom in the warehouse to talk through the latest limited edition.

Wire Works Pineau des Charentes began with our lightly peated house spirit, matured for four years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels before spending a further two years in a 500L cask that had previously held Pineau des Charentes.

The result? Sweet, rich and decadent, with plenty of Wire Works fruit at its heart.

Think peaches & cream, orange marmalade and almonds on the nose, followed by white chocolate, dried apricots, cinder toffee and a little candied ginger.

Tom talks us through the wh**ky, what to expect in the glass and the details behind the release.

We love the Wh**ky Show — can you tell? 😍 The excitement in the team this week felt like the run-up to Christmas!

Always a great weekend by the River Thames, catching up with Wire Works fans, meeting new people and reconnecting with friends across the industry.

Distillery Manager Dave Symes joined Tom Lindsey and Richard McKeand on the stand this weekend for his first visit to the show. Dave has been with us for every drop of wh**ky we’ve ever made.

On Friday night, Max joined Billy Abbott, alongside Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery and East London Liquor Company, to share some tasty drams and discuss the essence of English wh**ky and the new GI.

🥃 LONDON BOUND | WH**KY SHOW 2026

The team are more than a little excited to be heading to London this weekend for The Wh**ky Exchange’s Wh**ky Show.

With Wire Works Bourbon Barrel named The Wh**ky Exchange’s Wh**ky of the Year 2026, we’re delighted to have worked with their team on an exclusive Wire Works single cask bottling for this year’s show.

The chosen cask? A single ex-bourbon barrel filled with spirit made during an unexpected boiler breakdown, which led to an eight-day fermentation. The spirit went into cask at 70% ABV, with the strength barely dropping during maturation, before being reduced for bottling to a punchy 58.4% ABV.

Available to taste and buy exclusively at Wh**ky Show 2026, with limited bottles allocated to the show shop.

Tom, Rich, Max, Claire and Dave will be there across the weekend. If you’re coming along, stop by, say hello and join us for a dram! On the stand we'll have our core whiskies Bourbon Barrel, Port Cask, Caduro and limited edition releases Calvados and Pineau Des Charentes.
