The first load of pumpkins going into the shop, both here in the lockers and Tortworth estate Farm Shop
You can see how the wool@is munching down and helped keep the weeds down. The sweetcorn all picked just the pumpkins left.

The calves are fully weaned off! Here at Puddleditch this takes 3 weeks, to gradually introduce the calves to there new food. Then to bring everyone inside, then separate off the calves but with the cows just next door. Then finally the cows can go back out to grass and the calves remain in the shed on there winter food rations.

Not what you want to find after a long day at farmer market!
We got home after the market and went round to do the checks again and found a cow stuck in the calf creep feeder. We rarely use creep feeders as try to use only forage however with the drought this year we are going to wean the calves early so needed to introduce concentrate feed to them. Somehow this smaller cow had got in but couldn’t get out! She had got her pelvis stuck, dragged the feeder round the field and then gone down. We managed to get her free and overnight luckily she got up and this morning I found her feeding her twins 😀
