Production

Both the Sauvignon and the Rolle (otherwise known as Vermentino) are planted on plots with ideal drainage conditions, on a mixture of silt, sand and alluvial deposit. The Sauvignon was harvested in late August, and the Vermentino from mid-September. Cold maceration on the skins, followed by pressing and alcoholic fermentation on the fine lees at a temperature of 16-18°C.

Tasting notes

A deliciously refreshing change from straight Sauvignon Blanc. This wine takes the zesty grapefruit characters of Sauvignon and complements it with the rounded texture of Vermentino.

Food match

A wonderful all-rounder! Especially good with stir fried vegetables (particularly broccoli), vegetable pakora or a Thai green curry.

Production
Casa de Vila Nova is located in the sub region of Sousa, the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region in the North of Portugal, the vinho verde lands are exposed to the Atlantic Ocean winds and influence. Soils, microclimate, grape varieties and the unique characteristics of the wine culture, distinguish it from all other wine regions of the world. The grapes are harvested by hand in 20 kg boxes that are quickly transported to the winery where the grapes are destemmed then a soft pressing takes place and fermentation in temperature controlled vats.

Tasting notes
Bright citrus aromas and a fresh, lively palate with ripe, limey flavours, textural stone fruit and an appealing softness but still the balancing minerality characteristic of this variety.

Food match
A good match for chicken salads, fish and sushi. Or perhaps Vietnamese meatballs.

Well, doesn’t it feel like Florida in the current heatwave?! It's hot, it's humid, it's tropical. It's WRITTEN IN WATER. The perfect antidote! We first brewed this 6.5% ABV IPA with our friends at Civil Society Brewing (based in Miami, USA) a few years ago and loved it so much, it had to come back. Mimicking Civil Society's water profile and preferred IPA grist for a slight change-up, expect a tasty brew! Super-pungent batches of some of our favourite hop varieties, Citra & Nelson Sauvin, offering lashings of citrus, mangoes, gooseberries, grapes, and just a hint of insane Sabro sneaking through from the whirlpool addition.

Production
A signature of the domaine, this 100% Pinot Meunier cuvée is made with reserve wines taken from 2016 (70%) and 2015 (30%). Traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks, with no malolactic fermentation allowed to take place which helps the wine to maintain a bright, fresh, mineral character. It is then bottled and left on the lees for about 36 months - far longer than appellation rules dicate for a non-vintage champagne. Dosage is low at 6g per litre.

Tasting notes
Visually an attractive, slightly pink colour with pale gold highlights. The nose is aromatic with scented peony and red berries, followed by more red fruit, and delicate brioche on the palate with the mineral quality and touch of salinity that is typical of Pinot Meunier from Passy-sur-Marne.

Production
The Primitivo grapes were sourced from Vallone's Brindisi estate - from a 15ha vineyard with limestone-clay soil. The grapes are typically harvested at the end of August / start of September. Fermentation and maceration take place at controlled temperatures for 15 days, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Maturation takes place in steel and concrete tanks for around 3 months.

Tasting notes
A generous, open nose with ripe plum and cherry aromas and hints of warm spice. The palate is richly-flavoured with cooked blackberry and plum fruit characters, supple tannins and a rounded, savoury finish.

Food match
Enjoy with home-made bean burgers
