We're small-scale producers of rare-breed lamb, keeping a flock of White-Faced Woodland Sheep in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Until now most of our lambs have ended up being sold in one of the big local livestock markets. These are stressful places - for us, let alone for the sheep! From there it's probably transported who-knows-how-far to an industrial scale slaughterhouse before ultimately endin

g up on a supermarket shelf somewhere. We think there's a better way and so now offer our lamb direct to people who prefer to buy rare-breed meat from the producer. Doing it this way means that our lamb can be born, raised and slaughtered all within 10 miles of home, thereby minimising stress to the animals and keeping food miles within reasonable bounds.
