We are a dairy farm milking 400 Holstein cows on the banks of the river Clyde, ML12 6DL
We also provide milk to local cafes and restaurants.

We pasteurise some milk from our cows here at Hillhead of Covington and this milk is sold through our milk vending machines located at The Milk Hut here at the farm and our other machine is located in Brownlies of Biggar on Biggar High Street.

Cycling Provence, France 2026

Day 6: Saint Remy to Avignon via Pont Du Gard 82km. Temp 22-36 degrees. Blue skies and fresh air when we pedal fast enough.

Last day of the tour as we head back to Avignon via the Pont du Gard. This famous ancient Roman aqueduct bridge was built around 50AD to carry water to the Roman town of Nimes.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This year’s tour was booked through Discover France . We covered 385km through Provence.

Lots of local produce in the fields and on our plates. Food and wine everywhere was outstanding.

We missed the lavender and sunflower fields in bloom but perhaps temperatures would have been too hot earlier in the season.

Hotels were great on standard package. Lots of lovely small towns and villages visited that we would never have seen if not on a bike.

Bikes were perhaps a bit heavy than ideal but no punctures or issues, other than getting them to the top of Mont Ventoux!!

Now we’re off for a few extra days on the French Riviera 🏖️☀️

Cycling Provence, France 2026

Day 5: Gordes to Saint Remy 51km. Temp 21-30degrees. Blue skies and fresh air.

As we left the hotel this morning the hotelier was concerned we were underdressed for the cooler temperatures 🤣.

Before we left the Vaucluse region we stopped at the Lavender Museum at Coustellet. A great presentation on all things lavender and the importance of the true fine lavender unique to Provence.

We then headed into the Bouches du Rhone region, through Cavaillon, the melon town . Onto Eygalieres, a pretty little village with views over the Durance river valley, with the Alpilles mountain range alongside.

Today’s ride mostly through the fertile ground of the valley saw lots of apple, pear , figs and pomegranate, fresh fruit and vegetables.

We finished our ride in Saint Remy de Provence, time at the pool and more fabulous food and wine of the region.

Cycling Provence, France 2026

Day 4: Bedoin to Gordes 68km. Temp 22-25degrees. Humid with rain on/off and thunder in the hills.

After yesterday’s hill climb we felt surprisingly well today. A great ride today up and down hills visiting some lovely towns at the top of the hills.

We took some time in Fontaine de Vancluse to walk up the the source of the Sorgue. Amazing crystal clear waters erupting from the cliffs.

An extra detour to Roussillon with its ochre hills and ochre coloured houses really was magnificent.

Greenery all around with many trees, fruit orchards, olive groves and vineyards making the Luberon valley a wonderful place to visit.

Cycling Provence, France 2026

Day 3: Mont Ventoux 46km. Climb 1843m. Temp 22-28degrees.

Today’s ride was the challenge of the holiday. We have admired the magnificent Mont as we rode towards it over the past few days and today we chose to conquer it.

It certainly was a challenge, 22km of continuous climbing. Average gradient 9% with highs of 15%.

Cloudy skies brought cooler temperatures but obscured the views. The mistral winds were fierce at the top and unpredictable on the bends.

Challenge completed and no need to be repeated!

Desperately in need of some fresh Cows of Covington recovery milk but sadly lacking.

Cycling Provence, France 2026 🚴🏻🚴‍♀️🥛

Day 2: Saint Paul Trois Chateaux to Bedoin 56km. Temp 24-28degrees.

Today’s route through the Vaucluse was mainly on good surface roads again through lovely old villages with original buildings maintained. Vineyards, wineries, fruits and vegetables at various stages of harvest.

A climb to the top of Le Chateau la Baume de Transit gave beautiful views over the valleys below and the hills ahead.

Lunch in the busy town of Vaison la Romaine. Then up, down, round and over many hills🚵🚵🏼‍♀️ as Mont Ventoux gets closer (and bigger).

Hundreds of cyclists 🚴🏻 🚴‍♀️ everywhere on all types of bikes. Jealous of the carbon framed speed machines but definitely not ready for electric options. We are riding a pair of touring tanks!

Now for some rest by the pool 🏊‍♂️ 🏊‍♀️ .

Cycling Provence,France 🚴‍♀️🚴🏻2026

Day 1 Avignon to Saint Paul Trois Chateaux. 84km.

After a thunderstorm last night we set off hoping for fresher air and cooler temperatures.

Starting off alongside the Rhone River we then headed into Côtes du Rhône wine region, meandering through vineyards, orchards, olive groves. We passed through lovely towns and medieval villages. Chateauneuf du Pape’s many wine cellars, lunch in Orange, Serignan du Comtat, Suze la Rousse with its towering Chateau of the Prince of Orange.

We passed many lavender and sunflower fields, and other crops we have yet to identify.

A warm day with temperatures 28-33degrees and a cooling breeze (if we cycle fast enough).

Our destination for tonight is Saint Paul Trois Chateaux a well maintained Roman town full of history, good food and wine.
