We are in and ready!
The team are all nicely in and settled into their pens ready for the Royal Highland Show 2026. We are situated in the South sheep marquee, with judging taking place on Friday morning. Make sure to come and see the sheep (and us, if you really want to)!

🎶Brown Eyed Handsome Man🎶
We were lucky to be allowed to borrow a very smart moorit ram last autumn, and he has made such an impression that he will be staying to be shown for his owner, at a few selected shows this season. His first crop of lambs are quite exciting indeed …… he may have to stay a little longer 😝🤞🏼🤫

There was a really great turnout of sheep with nearly 60 sheep from 8 exhibitors, and real top quality throughout. Well done to everyone for their successes, and thanks to our judge for making the journey from Yorkshire to officiate.

It’s an exciting time of year here, not just because the lambs are all growing up but also because the gimmers (2025 ewe lambs) are coming back down to the central belt following their wintering up north. Now the fun of halter training and taming these wild young ladies begins! 🐊🐊

Before the purists get too excited, a couple of the whites in the video are crosses! 😝

A few folk have been asking how peerie lad is doing. He’s growing on well, has a lot of life about them - and is developing a keen interest in the ladies 🙄😱

We have recently become aware of comments made about us that are both deeply disappointing and entirely unacceptable. As a result, we will be reviewing—immediately and decisively—the criteria under which we allow access to our rams.

We invest significant time, expertise, and financial commitment into developing our flock. Until now, we have chosen to share that work openly, supporting others in strengthening their breeding programmes for the good of the breed as a whole. That openness should not be mistaken for naivety.

It is both disheartening and telling that individuals who have directly benefited from our generosity have seen fit to criticise us behind our backs. That lack of integrity and respect will not be overlooked.

Going forward, access to our rams or ewe livery will be strictly limited. We will work only with breeders who demonstrate genuine commitment, professionalism, and a shared ethos of stewardship for the future of the breed.

We will continue to acknowledge and credit those breeders whose stock we have been fortunate to work with—something we consider a basic standard of respect. It is regrettable, though not surprising, that not all operate to the same standard.

One thing we’ve learned this year - perhaps sheep life lessons can be a thing - is that experience doesn’t count for everything. All our gimmers lambed with ease, the few tricky ones were all experienced ewes.
Life Lesson? Just because you’ve been doing something for longer, doesn’t mean you’re going to be better at it!

Sheep check day today - in between rain, rain, and more rain - discovering this one sporting this seasons partially clothed look 🤦🏻‍♂️
This was on the Highland Show shortlist, so will definitely have to have wool off well before then! 🙄
It was bad before coming inside, but a few minutes running along a hay rack soon made a patch an expanse!

We only have one to lamb now (🤞🏼for this weekend!), however last week this little chap made a fairly dramatic entrance into the world. He is the smallest lamb I’ve seen in my life, and more like a tiny Pygmy goat kid 🤦🏻‍♂️
We didn’t think he would make it, but a week on he is going strong and, thankfully, growing!
Name suggestions welcome - Tim seemed a bit obvious 🤔
