The spice aisle is changing — and the standard just went up.

Here's a shift worth noticing. The global spices and seasonings market is set to grow at around 8% a year through 2030, and the data shows what buyers are reaching for has fundamentally changed.

It's no longer about the cheapest jar on the shelf. The trade is moving from a commodity into a value-added flavour ecosystem shaped by clean-label innovation, global cuisine adoption and resilient demand. Across mature European and UK markets, supplier transparency, food-safety assurance and supply-chain resilience are now the priorities buyers procure on.

Translation: traceability and quality have gone from "nice to have" to the price of entry. Manufacturers are now prioritising transparent sourcing and natural ingredients, driven by clean-label and sustainability demand.

It's a change we welcome — because it's how we've always worked. Traceability through our supply chain. BRCGS Grade AA accreditation. Bespoke blends developed with chefs and food producers. The industry is catching up to a standard we set for ourselves a long time ago.

So here's the question worth sitting with 👇

If your spice supplier couldn't tell you where every ingredient came from — would you still call them your supplier?

Because bland was never an option. And neither was guesswork.

30 years. One legend. Happy retirement, Andy!

Today we’re celebrating someone truly special. Andy Oliver joined World of Spice on 2nd October 1995 — and three decades later, he’s hanging up his boots on 30th June.

Think about that: 30 years. New products, new processes, new faces, new ways of working… Andy saw it all. And through every single change, he stayed the constant — our Production Supervisor, the steady hand on the floor, the person everyone turned to when things needed sorting. 💪

So much of who we are today is built on his knowledge, his standards, and his generosity in bringing others along with him. Legends like Andy don’t come around often.

Andy — thank you for thirty remarkable years. You’ve left your mark on this company and on every one of us. Here’s to a long, happy, and very well-earned retirement. 🥂

👇 Drop a comment below and help us give Andy the send-off he deserves!

The British spice rack has gone global. 🌍

A decade ago, these were specialist ingredients you'd hunt down in one or two shops. Today they're everyday staples — and that's brilliant news for anyone who loves to cook.

Swipe through five flavours that made the leap from niche to essential:

→ Sumac — tangy, ruby-red, and the finishing touch that makes a plate pop.

→ Za'atar — thyme, sesame and sumac in perfect balance. Turns flatbread into an event.

→ Dukkah — Egypt's crunchy nut-and-seed blend. Texture and flavour in one sprinkle.

→ Berbere — Ethiopia's bold, complex blend. A whole cuisine's worth of soul in one jar.

The British palate has never been more adventurous — and a wider rack means more discovery, more depth, and more reason to source the real thing rather than a pale imitation.

As a BRC-accredited spice supplier, that's exactly what we deliver: authentic, traceable, properly sourced flavour from origin to your kitchen.

Because bland was never an option.

What does it take to build a premium spice business that chefs, manufacturers, and retailers trust?

After years in the specialty food industry, we know it comes down to three things: quality you can taste, sourcing you can stand behind, and expertise you can rely on.

At World of Spice, we're proud to be an independent, family-run business supplying some of the finest kitchens and food producers around. Our depth of knowledge across global spices and ingredients means our customers don't just get a supplier — they get a partner.

The food industry is shifting. Flavour authenticity, ethical sourcing, and supply chain transparency are no longer optional — they're expected. We've built our business around these values from day one.

We back our commitment to quality with BRC accreditation for food safety — the global benchmark that chefs, manufacturers and retailers can rely on.

If you're a chef, food manufacturer, or retailer looking for a spice partner you can genuinely trust, we'd love to hear from you.

The brightest jar on the shelf isn’t always the best one in the kitchen, here’s what real quality turmeric actually looks like.

Genuine, high-quality turmeric has a warm, natural golden-orange colour and a strong, earthy aroma with a hint of pepperiness. It’s easy to assume the most vivid yellow is the best choice, but that’s not always true.

Here’s what to actually look for:

→ A warm, golden-orange tone rather than an overly bright or artificial-looking yellow

→ A bold, earthy aroma — if it smells faint or musty, it’s likely old or lower grade

→ A fine, consistent texture when ground, with no clumping

→ A supplier who can tell you exactly where it was grown and how it was processed

Great turmeric starts long before it reaches a kitchen — it starts with the soil, the harvest, and the care taken at every step in between.

At World of Spice, we work directly with trusted growers and back every batch with BRC accreditation, so quality isn’t just something we say — it’s something we can show.
