Back in the early 1980s, when the A47 still cut through the heart of the village, an unexpected visitor caused quite a stir. A massive tour bus pulled into the marketplace, and out stepped none other than Barry Manilow. He came into the shop casually strolled up to the counter, bought some Wrigley’s chewing gum, Unwrapped it popped it in his mouth, then just as quickly as he had arrived, vanished back onto the bus to continue his journey.

 My wine of the week is an El Picoteo, produced by Bodegas Piqueras. It is an organic wine from the Almansa region of Spain.
It’s a red wine often made from Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell grapes, known for a rich and intense flavor profile with notes of fresh red fruit and sweet spices.
