Pay it Forward Notification.

Due to the overwhelming support for our mothers day afternoon tea boxes, I have decided to pay it forward to two local mums who deserve a little bit of extra recognition. These are for two mums who are not just amazing but who might not be in a position for various reasons, for their childrens love and support to be shown by things that have a financial element. This might be an older mum whose children are sadly no longer with us or whose children are physically or mentally disabled and cannot manage to undertake shopping tasks. It might be a single mum, whose children are too young to have their own money or too unwell / disabled to shop. It might be a mum whose financial family circumstances mean that the most she will get is a hand made card but you know she would be happy with that. There is no one person more deserving than the next but I do want to make sure these make just a little difference to someone on Mother’s Day.

Do you know a local mum who would love to be surprised by a hand delivered afternoon tea box on Mother’s Day ? If so please do not share their story publicly but just comment to say you have messaged me so I can keep track of messages and please get in touch with me through messenger with their name and a brief explanation of why you think they deserve this. The two mums will be selected on Sunday and I will notify you of the outcome.

For those who want to treat their mum to something special on Mother’s Day.

Just over two weeks to go till Mothering Sunday. Want to give your mum, something hand made, with love and delivered personally on Mothers Day? Then why not treat her to this amazing afternoon tea for one. Using only the finest quality produce for a taste that cannot be brought from a shop.
Contains: 1 X Carrot Cake topped with cream cheese frosting.
1 X Mini Victoria sponge, filled with raspberry conserve and butter cream
1 x Plain Scone, plus 1 X Rodda’s clotted cream & 1 x Strawberry jam
3 x triple decker sandwiches, consisting of beef and horseradish or mustard, Brie and cranberry and chicken and beetroot. (Substitutions can be made of ham and mustard / cream cheese with chives and cucumber / grated cheddar and sandwich pickle). (Please note sandwiches come wrapped in grease proof paper to keep freshness).
Scottish Sausage roll (made with minced beef as opposed to pork)
1 x quality individually wrapped Tea Bag
1 x Taylor’s individually wrapped coffee bag.

All unpackaged items are genuinely home made with the absolute best quality ingredients. We believe that food should taste amazing and therefore only use butter in our sandwiches and finest grade breads. We guarantee you will not find another supplier who uses such high quality produce.
Everything is cooked fresh the evening before delivery and scones are cooked on the morning of delivery as they should be eaten on the day they are baked.

Costs for afternoon tea for one, delivered in the Thanet area on either Saturday 9th March or Sunday 10th is £22 including delivery. Price for a two person box (which consists of 2 of everything listed above) is £40 including delivery. Orders are limited to 20 boxes on each day to ensure they are delivered by midday.
All orders must be placed by Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd respectively.

Resounding success on the beef sausage rolls…. As a family we don’t eat pork but I wanted to include sausage rolls in the next version of afternoon tea boxes. In the supermarket this week I picked up sausage meat, looked at it and realised I would not be able to work with this so it had to go back. I knew I didn’t want to make chicken or turkey ones ane then found an amazing recipe for Scottish Sausage Rolls in which they use ground beef. Made a test batch of these this afternoon and the only problem I can see so far is that they taste so good I could end up with a guilt addiction 🤦🏼‍♀️

Who am I and what is a slice of happiness? For those of you who know me personally, you will know that I find baking, and cake decorating extremely therapeutic and relaxing. Being able to share what I bake with others, brings me a A Slice of Happiness. This is something I have not been able to do for many years due to house renovations, the demands of a full time job and life commitments. But now I am back in a place where I have started to bake again, and have fallen back in love with creating tasty, fresh, good quality cakes. Good quality home made food created with love and from fresh ingredients was once described to me as "tasting like fairies dancing on your tongue".
By bringing together my love of baking with my fussy palate for tasty food, I have created what I believe is the perfect wholesome afternoon tea box. Again using only freshly cooked ingredients, good quality bread and proper butter I have created a trio of sandwiches that will leave you wondering why we ever eat boring food.
I believe that any food I eat should be fresh, exceptionally tasty and that to achieve this some things just cannot be skimped on. If I only want to eat quality then it stands to reason that this is what I also want to provide. Therefore unlike companies whose focus is on maximising profit, our focus is on giving you a truly delicious afternoon tea which hopefully brings you more than A Slice of Happiness.
