Our focus today zooms in on Glaves & Sons family butchers, at Brompton by Sawdon just to the west of Scarborough. It occu-pies positioning 27 on our great pie map.
A Scarbados local, mentioned this delightful pie emporium as his go to place for his meat and pastry combo’s. Thanks go out to Chris Anderson for the heads up on this one.
I can say that it is set in a wonderful picturesque village with all manner of fair on display along with the hallowed pie shelf on the back wall. Veryinviting your eyes to feast on the delight on show.
As usual I got all exited a bought a fair selection, as well as some cakes to finish off! Oh well the diet starts tomorrow 😆
A hasty 1 hour drive sees us arrive at , yes you guessed it, our secret tasting facility at Thorpe Arch Retail Park near Weatherby.
During the drive the single sausage roll disappeared somewher🤭

Well it’s been a while. After a bike trip around Ireland and a distinct lack of any real pies at all. On my return I hastily tucked into something that I had bought prior to my trip and what I’ll describe as “The Leveler”
It’s described as an all day breakfast on the packaging. I accidentally overcooked this Fray Bentos by around 15 mins but the results were the usual sloppy undercooked pastry that one can never seem to address, no matter the cooking technique employed. The contents were tasty although most things unhealthy are this way. A decent amount of beens with cubed sausage pieces made up the contents. Crispy on top with a fair filling and sloppy raw pastry underneath.
Now that the lower level of the pie scale has been re-set. We can now continue.

It’s all been about the pie today.
After smashing down a huge barbecue pulled pork sandwich I was hit with a pork pie to try, handed to me by an associate, but I’m still unsure of which shop it came from, though it certainly hit the spot. I dished out my pork pies from Cusworth of Wickersley. They looked lovely but I couldn’t manage another so soon. I was then presented with two cold meat and potato pies to try later.
I’ve just had one for my tea and I’ve got another Cusworths, family size pie, in the fridge, to nibble on over the next couple of three days.
