For tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 we are lucky to have a quarter of young talents. Sophie Gilbert on vocals, Ben Shankland on Keys, Jono Hilliam on Drums, and Jamie Paxton on Bass. Sophie, Jono and Jamie are in their 2nd year of study on the jazz course and Ben is in his first. They have been playing together within the conservatoire throughout the year and this will be their first gig together outside of the conservatoire. Come and greet them while you enjoy some freshly baked pizza and a cold beer

🍕🍕🍕Pizza and a pint for £15 while you listen some live jazz? Tomorrow, Friday the 3rd of March at 5:30
Ben Shankland joins fellow conservatoire students Josh Rose and Tom Marsh for a set of jazz standards. Already gaining recognition on both the Birmingham and Scottish jazz scenes despite his young age, Shankland and his band's exploration of these classic songs pays homage to the jazz tradition, whilst bringing a fresh contemporary sound.

Joe is a 3rd year jazz guitar student, who's influences include: Barney Kessel, Charlie Christian, Bud Powell, Hank Jones and many more. Hear him performing a set of jazz standards with bassist Sam Casey.

Head to the delectable Mulino's this Friday at 5.30 in the afternoon for some swingin' Scottish jazz courtesy of six string ace Timmy Allan duo featuring promising young pianist Ben Shankland.

Timmy has had a long career already in many forms of music, but has decided to focus all his efforts on his main passion: jazz. Having toured through Netherlands, Spain, England, and obviously Scotland with various different outfits including Glasgwegian Western swing, young guns 'Awkward Family Portraits', Scottish neo soul - jazz icon 'Kitti', and high energy bluegrass band 'The Black Denims'. Timmy's notable appearances include Belladrum, TRNSMT, Wild Rooster Fest (The Hague), Latitude (Suffolk), Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Glasgow Jazz Festival, BBC Scotland jazz nights with Seonaid Aitken and many more.
Ben Shankland is already a widely respected jazz pianist in both Edinburgh and Birmingham despite his young age. Having already received expert tutelage from Tommy Smith's Youth Jazz orchestra and Andrew Bain's National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland. Ben is already received great reception in Scotland and beyond with his virtuosic trio having secured a main slot at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival. Big things to come from this one.
