Yesterday we had Jen and the brilliant team from Cherry Reds Cafe & Bar in to see the behind the scenes of Silhill Brewery!
Cherry Reds have been part of Birmingham’s independent scene since 2010 and are well known for supporting local brewers and serving a great range of craft and cask b**r from their home in the city centre.
Austen, Evan and Flo took them through the brewing process, from checking out the Emperor hops and looking at the yeast under the microscope, to pitching the yeast, taking samples and even getting stuck into digging out the mash tun!
We finished things off the best way possible with a proper Ploughman’s lunch, complete with a little French touch in the form of Comté cheese 🇫🇷🧀 followed by a pint, a chat and plenty of questions about all things b**r! 🍺
For us, this is what being independent is all about getting to know the people behind the pubs, sharing knowledge and building genuine relationships.
The more independents can work together and support one another, the stronger our industry becomes. ❤️
