Earlier this week, I had the privilege of returning for my third year as a judge for the 9th
Firstly, a huge thank you to for once again giving me the opportunity to be part of the judging panel. Opportunities like this are never taken for granted, and every year I come away having learned something new.
What stood out most wasn’t who had the biggest business, the biggest budget or the biggest following. It was the passion, resilience and commitment shown by so many businesses across our industry.
Hospitality is tough right now, which makes it even more inspiring to see so many people continuing to innovate, invest in their teams, support their communities and deliver exceptional experiences for their customers.
As someone who started with a simple gazebo setup, grew into a food truck and now operates both and our sister brand alongside catering for weddings, corporate events and festivals across the Midlands, I understand first-hand the hard work, sacrifice and determination that goes into building something from the ground up.
For some, awards are simply awards. For others, they represent years of consistency, perseverance and belief in what they do.
One of the biggest things I took away from this year’s judging was just how much there is to learn from others within our industry.
If I’m fortunate enough to be invited back in the future, I will continue to champion and nominate businesses that deserve recognition. Not because they’re the biggest, but because they’re making a difference through great hospitality, strong values and a genuine commitment to their customers, teams and communities.
Hospitality is built on people, passion and purpose.
And if there’s ever a Best Curry category, I’ll happily let Vick do the cooking while I do the judging. 🤣
