Pip’s Hot Sauces are devilishly spicy chilli sauces. Crafted in small batches to ensure quality, these sauces are made by chilli heads for chilli heads who love flavour as well as spice! Dead rich red & smoky La Boca Del Diablo was the first we came up with. It’s a smoky heat, which has a lovely slow after burn. We use it on pretty much everything we eat here at Hot Sauce HQ. It goes really well o

n pasta and pizza, is great on poached eggs for a pick you up breakfast and lovely in a Bloody Mary too or a Bloody Maria ;-)

Our next sauce was Feugo del Verde. Pals wanted us to bring them a sweet sauce but we didn’t want to do something that was too jam like. After lots of experimenting we decided to make our sweet sauce with fiery green peppers this gives Feugo a nice peppery kick. A good friend swears by Feugo del Verde as the best partner to a bacon butty but we like to stir fry prawns in it. It also is great for dunking chips and pizza crust into. Sadly we haven’t come up with a cocktail it goes in yet! The baby of the bunch at the moment is Clabaza Malvada. This lovely yellowy orange sauce is made with pumpkin, cumin, coriander, turmeric and a few scotch bonnet chillies. It’s probably our milder sauce but be warned some still feel the heat. Calabaza is more of a sweet and sour sauce. It’s another all rounder great for saucing up a sandwich, dipping over chips or as a marinade. We are always looking for new sauces but we only ever produce things that we love ourselves so are not in the habit of churning stuff out just to increase our range. We do have a couple of sauces in the pipe line that have proved to be addictive in Hot Sauce HQ so it looks like there will be some new saucey goodness coming soon...... Watch this space!

September. Apparently we’ve decided sleep is overrated.

We’re out and about with our other massive time thief Birmingham Artisan Markets all month:

6th — Longbridge Artisan Market, 11–4
13th — Kings Heath Artisan Market, 10–3
19th — JQ Artisan Market, back in Golden Square, 10–3
20th — Bournville Artisan Market, 11–3
24th & 25th — International Day of Birmingham, taking over Birmingham Council House with the Brummie Bazar
27th — St Paul’s Market’s 1st Birthday

BUT WAIT. THERE’S MORE CHAOS.

We’ll also be joining Tat Vision & Foka Wolf at BRUMBLE, where I’ll be hosting a sauce eating contest.

The basic premise? I’ll be testing contestants on their Brummie facts while they attempt to answer with a gob full of progressively hotter Pip’s Hot Sauce.

Educational AND gastrointestinal. You’re welcome, Birmingham.

And because obviously this requires a certain level of sophistication and glamour, I’ll have the one and only joining me as my glamorous assistant.

What could possibly go wrong?

Oh, and on the 26th we’ll be popping up at Moseley Farmers’ Market too.

So basically, if you want Pip’s Hot Sauce in September, you’re going to have a harder job avoiding us than finding us.

We’re all set up inside today with a little Birmingham Artisan Markets Bank Holiday Monday pop-up.

Hot sauce is on the shelves, I’m dangerously close to a lot of excellent food, and for once we don’t have to worry about gazebos, wind, rain or any of the other nonsense the British weather usually throws at market traders.

Come and find us, grab yourself some Pip’s Hot Sauce and, while you’re here, eat something ace.

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY PLANS SORTED.

Tomorrow we’re popping up at with Birmingham Artisan Markets for a little mini market, and I’m VERY excited about it.

Obviously I’m looking forward to selling you all some hot sauce. That goes without saying.

But I’m also quite excited about being surrounded by loads of ace food and having the perfect excuse to spend most of the day eating. It’s called supporting other independents and it’s very important work.

Come find us tomorrow, grab some sauce, eat something brilliant and make the most of that glorious extra Monday off.

The inspiration for Sauce Henge.

Look at this house. LOOK AT IT.

Apparently at some point this sort of architecture lodged itself in the weird bit of my brain and later reappeared as a massive plaster construction designed for the very important job of displaying hot sauce at markets.

Some people are inspired by architecture to design beautiful homes.

I made Sauce Henge.

Same creative process, really.

Nice to finally discover its spiritual home. I’m sure the architect would be absolutely thrilled.

Apparently even hot sauce needs a holiday.

Pip’s Hot Sauce has temporarily swapped Birmingham for sunshine, sand and the sort of behaviour that involves doing absolutely bu**er all for a few days.

Obviously I brought a bottle with me. I’m not an animal.

So while I’m busy giving Nagatropolis a needlessly glamorous beach photoshoot, things at Pip’s HQ are having a little rest too.

We’ll be back very soon, refreshed, mildly sunburnt and ready to resume normal levels of chilli-based nonsense.

Well, last week was absolutely bonkers.

We made hot sauce in a bloody heatwave, hung out with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Lord Mayor of Birmingham , TRADE MARKED THE PIP’S HOT SAUCE BRAND because apparently we’re proper grown-ups now, ran AND traded at two Birmingham Artisan Markets

And saw an eclipse.

Because clearly the universe thought the week wasn’t quite dramatic enough.

Hot, hectic, slightly unhinged and involving considerably more admin than I’d usually willingly tolerate.

This week is looking a little calmer because we’ve actually got a weekend off. I know. Check we’re OK.

We’ll be topping up the Pip’s Hot Sauce shop at Redbrick Birmingham today, or you can order online.

But you’ll need to be quick because next Wednesday we’re doing something even more unusual than trade marks and eclipses…

We’re sneaking off on holiday for a week.

Bit overdressed for a Saturday market shift, if you ask me, but he seemed keen, so Matt got him straight behind the counter at today’s JQ Artisan Market at St Paul's Church JQ Fete.

No idea what his availability is like for Bournville tomorrow, but we’ll ask 😂

Well, this is a bit bloody exciting.

Pip’s Hot Sauce is officially part of this year’s International Day of Birmingham— and, more importantly, OUR NAME IS ON THE POSTER.

Look at that line-up. Actual brilliant Birmingham people, businesses, creatives and general legends… and then somehow Pip’s Hot Sauce has snuck in amongst them. Nobody tell the organisers. Just act natural.

Genuinely though, we’re ridiculously chuffed to be part of something celebrating just how much talent, creativity and independent brilliance Birmingham has knocking about. Roll on September.

In the meantime, if you simply cannot wait that long to gaze upon some bottles of hot sauce in person, you can find us spending the weekend with my *other* great time thief, Birmingham Artisan Markets.
