Christmas dinner in the school dining hall is one of those moments that sticks with a pupil 🍽️🎄

The tinsel, the crackers, the chaos of getting hundreds of roast dinners out at once! It’s one of the most ambitious things a school catering team takes on all year.
If your team is already thinking about the Christmas menu, now is exactly the right time to start planning. The schools that pull off a brilliant Christmas lunch are the ones that start early!

Half term is coming up already! 🍂

For school catering teams, it’s a well-earned breather, but it’s also the perfect window to take stock, review what’s been working this term, and come back in November ready to hit the ground running.

If the first half of the term has thrown up any challenges around your catering, whether that’s costs, menus, staffing or compliance, we can use this time to address them before they become bigger problems.

CMC is here whenever you’re ready to have a conversation!

Lunchtime is only short, but its impact lasts all afternoon! 🍽️✨

Research consistently demonstrates that children who eat a proper meal at lunch perform better in afternoon lessons and show better concentration, behaviour, and mood.
For schools, that means that investing in great catering isn’t just about food; It’s about outcomes! 🙌

We like to help schools see catering for what it really is, and we want to help you get it right so that the pupils and the catering staff reap the rewards.

A question we get asked a lot is ‘how long does it take to move to in-house catering?’ ⏰

The transition really depends on your school, but what we can tell you is that with the right support in place, the transition doesn’t have to be disruptive, stressful or drawn out!

CMC has helped schools of all sizes make the switch smoothly by planning everything in advance so that when the time comes, your team is ready, your menus are set, and your kitchen hits the ground running.

Curious about what the timeline could look like for your school? Let’s have a conversation.

Halloween is just around the corner! 🎃And while we know school kitchens have enough on their plates already, it’s a brilliant opportunity to have a bit of fun with the menu. Themed lunches, spooky veg dishes, and pumpkin soups are just an example of the kind of thing that gets pupils excited to see what’s on offer.

At CMC, we love helping schools find moments throughout the year to make lunchtime feel like an event because when food is fun, children engage with it differently!

Autumn is here, and so are the comfort food cravings! 🍂☝️

The colder months are a brilliant opportunity to refresh your school menu with warming, hearty dishes that pupils actually get excited about! Think soups, stews, pasta bakes, and seasonal veg that makes eating well feel like a treat rather than just another part of the school day.

At CMC, our recipe team works with schools to keep menus feeling seasonal, relevant and delicious all year round. Fancy a menu refresh this term? Let’s chat!

Be honest… When did someone last ask your pupils what they actually want to eat? 👀

Pupil feedback is one of the most underused tools in school catering! When children feel like their opinions matter, they’re more engaged with what’s on offer and more likely to eat and enjoy.
The best person to tell you what works in the dining hall is the one sitting in it every day, and that’s why CMC has the pupils’ voices built into how we approach menu development.

We work with schools of all shapes and sizes, and we know that what works for one won’t always work for another.
