As a company that has devoted considerable efforts to extending shelf-lives as a means of reducing food-waste, we’d like to draw attention to the fact that this year’s 'Food Waste Action Week' runs from the 17th to 23rd March.

First launched in 2021, it’s Britain’s largest annual food waste reduction campaign and, among other things, it seeks to remind people that food waste is one of the biggest contributors to climate change. To find out more, visit the WRAP.ngo website.

We recently received a kind letter from Blackburn Food Bank, thanking us for some recent donations of food. We've been supporting the charity for some time now but we'd like to take this opportunity to encourage others - especially those in Lancashire and the North West - to lend their support, too.

Blackburn Food Bank's mission is "to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in the local community" - a mission that has become increasingly important in the wake of last year's cost-of-living crisis. On 18th December, our MD, Shiraz Master attended an investiture event at Buckingham Palace. Here, the Princess Royal presented him with his MBE medal. It was awarded in recognition of his “services to the promotion of food and drink, to business and to philanthropy.”

Over the course of December, we have been supporting a number of worthwhile causes with product donations. Examples include local food banks and The Scottish Grocer Food Collection Campaign (in association with FareShare). We have also provided doughnut prizes for a tombola that raised funds for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

Simply Doughnuts has been named a winner in the International Trade Club Awards for the second year running. The awards were hosted by East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
Our ‘Outstanding Exporter Achievement’ award recognises our continuing growth in overseas markets throughout 2024. It follows a similar award in 2023.
Collecting the trophy, our chair, Mike Wilson thanked the judges and East Lancs Chamber, as well as all our clients and suppliers for their commitment this year. He added: “this award is testament to all the hardworking people at Simply Doughnuts who we are so proud of, and who help us to continually innovate and grow.”
He finished by paying tribute to our MD, Shiraz Master, for his dedication throughout the year, noting that Shiraz would be collecting his MBE from the King in a couple of weeks’ time.

We’re delighted to report that Simply Doughnuts is a finalist in the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards for 2025. We have been shortlisted in the ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ category.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony itself, which will take place on Thursday 6th February at the London Hilton Bankside.
