Ar Lèirsinn Highland Cattle Enhancing the Highland Cattle breed by sharing genetics across the pond from Scotland to the US through embryo transfer has developed into "we are doing this!".

Ar Lèirsinn Highland Cattle has formed out of a shared vision of continually improving the highland cattle breed while remaining true to traditional breed standards. What started as kicking around thoughts about "wouldn't it be amazing if we could..." This cooperative, if you will, is only possible through the work of:

Ruri MacDougall and Heather Cameron, Fort William, Scotland
Jon and Queenie Strickland and Stuart Campbell at Cladich Fold, Dalmally, Scotland
Melissa and Shawn Curran, Hannah Walsh, and Matt at Pollok Fold, Glasgow, Scotland
Tom Redmayne at Paragon Veterinary Services, Cumbria, England

and many, many others along the journey.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐂 A wee update on big Susie 67th of Pollok Fold 🐂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Big Susie has a big personality, that’s why she stays at Pollok park where she is known and loved and where she is the happiest.

Updates from Melissa Curran, Hannah Walsh, and Shaun Curran never disappoint 😂 I knew it was Susie when…. 🤪

Talk about being green with envy 💚

Not to steal their thunder, but one of my international friends got to swing by Blaich to visit the highlands and Heather Cameron, Ruri MacDougall and the boys. I woke up to the photos that immediately made me smile while wishing I could be there as well!

I’ve not seen this friend publicly post about their travels so will keep mum on the adventurer’s identity for now. Thank you so much for the photos and the gift for the boys, rightly named by Duncan 🐂 I hope you enjoyed Blaich, the cows, some of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet, and every moment of your time in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐂 Here is our Susie, looking her naturally cool, calm, collected, and amazing! 🐂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Thanks Hannah Walsh

Are you as obsessed with the Pollok Country Park Highland cows as we are?

On the 22nd August the West of Scotland Highland Cattle Club is hosting its Annual Club show at Pollok Country Park. That's a whole day dedicated to these gentle giants! It starts from 11am at the Riverside field (next to the Covid Memorial path) and spectators are welcome. See you there!

This. This is why I love them. Each and every one of them. 3 at Pollok and the slightly spicier 68th version in Fort William 🌶️

Susie is SO comfortable with the public that she’s the first to lay down and allow total strangers approach her up close and personal for an amateur cattle photo shoot held by Pollok Fold. She’s passed down her bomb-proof temperament to her 2025 AND 2026 heifer calves. Put this girl in the show ring, on the ScotsRail train, in the park with a comedy star, or in her pasture with the public, or with Melissa Curran and me on a blustery Saturday morning in February before other are out of bed - she never disappoints. She’s a rockstar and she knows it 🤩 📸

All my Scottish beasts hold their own places in my heart, but none more so the Susie 67. I’ll cross the ocean a million times to see you again and again, sweet girl 🌎 I’ll see you soon and will always have snacks in my pocket for you ❤️

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐂 What a photo! 🐂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

All 3 of these ladies have big personalities. I never would have imagined capturing a photo of the 3 of them standing together like this, posing for the camera 📸

Featured left to right

Lorna of Craigluscar (UK544529300245), age 13
Siusan Ruadh 68th of Pollok (UK561310200717), age 4
Megan 12th of Killochries (UK583241700407), age 18

It is not possible for words to describe how much of a gap sits in my heart when I’m in the USA and can’t be with these girls every day; the same is true for my USA girls when I’m in Scotland. What a problem to have 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐂 A new father coming to the USA from Ardbhan Highland Cattle for Father’s Day 2026? Yes please!! 🐂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A little sneak-peek at Neilie. Stay tuned, more to come on this sire 💪🏻

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐂 The girls in Scotland coming down off the hill for evening grain. This is a sighting I never get tired of seeing. Megan is 18 and so stable on her feet - I love that ol’ girl! And the calves catching up with their little side kick 🐂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Ruri MacDougall; it still doesn’t let me tag Heather, the amazing photographer and keeper 🎥❤️
