**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT** - It is with very heavy hearts that we are announcing that Bert's Homebake will be PERMANENTLY CLOSING.
This is a decision we have dreaded having to make and have fought hard to try and make our business work. We opened the shop 18 months before lockdown and were just finding our feet as Covid-19 hit. Since reopening, we still see highly reduced footfall as people spend more time working from home, and of course we know and understand that in the current climate people are tightening their belts and spending less on non-essentials, including pies and cakes! :) Finally, cost increases have been absolutely crippling with our energy bills increasing overnight by more than 50%, and some ingredients increasing in costs by as much as 80%. These increases we just don't feel we can pass on at a fair and acceptable price level for our customers.
The shop will be open this week for as long as we have pies remaining, we expect to be open until Tuesday or Wednesday, so head down and feel free to stock up your freezer on Bert's goodies for the very last time!!
There is one bit of good news - the premises will be reopening under a new name/management with our fabulous shop staff Donna & Vicky, who many of you will recognise, working and continuing to serve sandwiches, breakfasts, soups, jacket potatoes etc - watch this space for them opening!
Finally, to every single customer that has supported Bert's since starting at home and then moving into the shop premises 3 and a half years ago, to all of you that supported us during lockdown ordering frozen pie packs, to all staff and friends past and present that have helped us with the shop, often in their own time and paid in nothing but pies......all we can say is, THANKYOU!!
