Notice: Damage at Smash N Slice

We’re really disappointed to share that our shop, Smash N Slice, was recently damaged by a group of youngsters.

This incident occurred last night (Sunday 3rd May) at around 9:30pm–10:00pm.

As you can see in the photos, one of our tables has been deeply scratched and the sofa has not just been punctured, but has six puncture marks as shown in the photos. This isn’t just minor wear and tear — it’s going to cost us a significant amount in repairs, materials, and time.

We’ve also been informed by local residents that some of the same young people have been throwing away items from their orders at our shop, with litter being left in nearby streets and even in residents’ gardens after leaving Smash N Slice.

As a family-run business, we put a lot of effort into creating a welcoming space for everyone in the community. We’ve always tried to look after local kids too — letting them sit in, giving the odd full box of pizza for the group, and even the occasional wee cheeky discount.

We also understand there aren’t many places for young people to go, which is why we’ve always been one of the only places on Bonnyrigg High Street that allows them to come in and spend time here — even when they’re not always buying anything.

All we ever ask for in return is a bit of respect for the space and the people running it. Sadly, this situation shows that hasn’t been the case here.

The police have now been contacted regarding this incident.

If anyone has any information about who may have been responsible, we’d really appreciate you reaching out privately.

We also kindly ask parents and guardians to have a word with their children about respecting local businesses and shared spaces.

We love serving this community and want to keep Smash N Slice a welcoming place for everyone — but we need that respect in return.
