Stars of yesteryear back at Hillsborough

David Storch, Michael Storch, David Bruce and Simon Wilson welcomed a host of former Owls players back to Hillsborough for a special event on Thursday evening. Wednesday legend Howard Wilkinson was amongst those joining the new senior management team at S6 as they continue their re-engagement process and building on the history of our wonderful club. The 'team line-up' will no doubt bring back many a memory for supporters ... we've managed to put some names to faces ... how about you?

Wednesday snap up experienced defender

Wednesday have signed Swansea City's experienced defender Ricardo Santos for an undisclosed fee. He has agreed a one-year contract, with a club option of a further 12 months. The 31-year-old has made more than 400 senior appearances, including 189 in League One where he will be turning out for the Owls in the upcoming season. Santos said of his move to S6: “Once I got the call from my agent telling me that Sheffield Wednesday was a possibility, I told him, make sure you get this done....

Stretch in Wales squad but Grainger misses out

Wednesday’s Logan Stretch has been named in the Wales Under-19 European Championship squad … but promising Owls striker Will Grainger has missed out. Logan, who has five caps at under-19 level, will join up with the Welsh squad for the tournament which is being held in Wales from June 28-July 11. They are in Group A and will play all their group games at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground, taking on Spain on June 28, kick off 6pm, before facing Germany on July 1, ko 8pm, and completing the group matches against Denmark on July 4, ko 2pm....

Season ticket sales edge towards 23,000

22,786 … that’s the record-breaking final number of season tickets sold by Monday evening’s first phase deadline. It’s a great reaction from the fans following the arrival of our new owners and ahead of a campaign which will hopefully see us returning to the Championship at the first attempt after last season’s relegation. Further details will follow in due course regarding the second phase of sales.

Sporting director talks of future plans

Here’s to the coming season from London Owls!

The London Owls were out in force in the capital today for a highly successful ‘summer get-together’. It was great to see so many members - both old faces and new - for the gathering, which was held at the Wild Swan, Thornbridge and Co’s pub in Fetter Lane, Holborn. Thanks to you all for coming and we hope you all had an enjoyable time, with plenty of optimism and positivity on the menu for the new season … not to mention a beer or two in the London sunshine!
