So, today is a day that James calls ‘shearing day’ and I call ‘the day I find out how many sheep James actually has’.

He thought he had me tricked by buying some new shears a month ago and making a start on some that then stayed in the field…. And by leaving the field of tups to do himself later. Oh and the ones he bought and got sheared before they left market. And of course there is all of the lambs. And the kids show sheep…. So the tally on the number sheared is of no reflection of how many we have…. 🤔

So, actually yes he has got me bamboozled and the only conclusion I have is… we have ALOT 😵‍💫 🐑
Big thanks Ralph Hewerdine and team 👏

⭐️ Is there a helpline for farm animal buying addiction?? If so send James the number. He even managed to buy the top price chickens at Melton Mowbray Market today and he didn’t even go 🙈

A little trip to Market Rasen to watch one of our owners horses this evening. One that we foaled here at the stud. His mother and many siblings all still live here with us 🐴

It will be a slow journey to market this week.
The livestock trailer is in for a service so it’s the open air taxi 🚕

(Obvs not actually going to market, just moving to the next field although I wouldn’t put anything past James!)

The day started with a flat tyre…. but ended with rosettes 🏵️
A lovely day at Rutland Show (when we eventually got there!) and Charlie and Felicity had a win each. Felicity in the native ewe lamb with Clementine, and Charlie in Native ram lamb with Bounty -winning on his first trip out. Lots of lovely comments and some nice placings too, making the early morning stress all worth it 🚗

Hallelujah! We are done foaling 2026 😅 😴 another lovely c**t 🐴💙

Can you spot one of our newest editions?
After finding a snuggly spot in a stable, the peahen layed 6 eggs and has sat tight on them for 4 weeks. Then this morning we could spot some little ones! There are at least 3 chicks but for now she is sitting tight so can’t get a final count 🦚

Another weekend and another show! This time Woodhall Spa Country Show, we absolutely love this little show and it’s always been lucky for us, with little bluebell winning the interbreed last year. This year we didn’t quite reach the same peak but lots of placings, and the highlight being Charlie taking Ginger on her first ever trip out and she was a star! She won her ewe lamb class and helped Charlie take the win in the Young handlers class with Felicity and her beloved Bluebell coming second. Our next show is Rutland at the end of the month
