🇮🇹❤️ WHEN ITALIANS TALK ABOUT YOU LIKE THIS… 🥹

We might be biased, but we think the best thing about Calabrese has always been the people. ❤️

And when Julio starts talking about us in Italian, we could honestly listen all day! 🇮🇹😂

That’s exactly what our Italian Conversation Evenings are all about: bringing people together through a love of Italy, its language, food and culture.

Whether you already speak Italian, you’re learning, or you simply love the bella vita, you’re very welcome at our table. 🥂

No classroom. No pressure. Just lovely people, Italian conversation, a few nibbles and plenty of warmth and laughter. 🇮🇹

Some things are bigger than books. ❤️📚

Our lovely neighbours at recently gifted us a beautiful copy of There Are Rivers in the Sky by Elif Shafak — the very book we’ll be reading together at our next Book Club.

And honestly, it’s little acts of kindness like this that make a community feel like a community. 🥹

We talk a lot about rebuilding Bournemouth, supporting independent businesses and bringing people together… but sometimes it’s as simple as a book being passed from one neighbour to another, a coffee shared, a conversation started, or someone choosing to support the person next door.

One kind act at a time. One independent business at a time. One friendship at a time. ❤️

We’re so lucky to have right on our doorstep — and even luckier to be building something special together.

So… if you love books, good food, lovely people and a good old natter, come and join us for the next Back Alley Book Club x Calabrese. 📚🇮🇹

☕️ Come for the book… stay for the Italian food and community.

Because this is what we mean when we say it takes a community to build a town. ❤️

If you know, you KNOW… 🤌😂

You don’t just “pop into Calabrese”.
You come for a coffee… stay for a cornetto… somehow leave with pasta, panini and half the deli. 🇮🇹

And apparently… we do gift vouchers too. 😂🎁

We’ve ALWAYS done them… we’ve just never told anyone! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

So if you’ve got someone who deserves a little taste of Calabrese, you know what to do. 💙🇮🇹

Because sometimes the best gift is simply:
“Go on… go and treat yourself.” 🤌
