Hola!, My name is Elisa Ponce; I am a qualified Attorney at Law and in the past I have worked as a lawyer for both, private Mexican corporations and the Mexican government. In 2005 I decided to travel and came to England to improve my English to get a better job when I return home. Boscombe, Bournemouth is my home; it is the land where I live and
I have my English family and friends, my job, my community, my dreams and my love for it; it is where, apart from my beloved Mexico, I also belong. Coming from a social background and being passionate and proud about my traditional Mexican food I have recently started a food and social project called MILPA Bournemouth. MILPA is a project that aims to embrace the authentic flavours of Mexican food to show and prove that healthy Mexican food can be very tasty and at the same time, MILPA Bournemouth wants to generate a positive impact on our Boscombe community and encourage no waste. MILPA Bournemouth has been registered with the local authorities, has had a 5 rated certification of hygiene, has been trading at Boscombe market, festivals and private parties and is trading its home made and hand made corn and authentic Mexican products with independent cafes around Boscombe and Southbourne, Southbourne Food Assembly, Montessori schools and direct to the general public; MILPA Bournemouth found its passion through the love of cooking good traditional Mexican food and produces home made fresh Mexican gluten free corn products, runs workshops and cooking demonstrations as well as private catering services; at the present 10% of the profit coming from these sales, demos and catering services is destined to sponsor and encourage girls in Tochtepec, Puebla, Mexico to keep studying. I am hugely inspired and I want to show Mexican food as it really is: vibrant, full of flavours and textures, healthy, nutritious, tasty, fresh and full of colours; at the same time, I would like to impact positively our community.
