With the lambing coming to an end now, it’s time for the next round of spring births.

We have had 60 calves so far which is more than double of what we had this time last year.

This cow below is a 3 year old second calver with calves number 3&4 after having twins last year as a 2 year old.

The last week has been pretty busy with Herd Care Orkney in to do some routine hoof trimming, the start of the lambing and dosing stirks with getting a good few out🐮

Hopefully the weather does a bit of improving now and we can get the rest of the stirks out and the lambs too 🐑☀️🤞🏻

Today we took the cattle home from Lochend.

This bunch of in calf heifers have spent their winter up in lochend on the heather and have plenty of condition on them.

The sim x luing cows suit our system of out wintering very well and all being homebred helps as they know the ground they are going to.

Wishing Allan all the best as he takes these 3 lads back home to the Isle of Arran.

Allan and his family have been running easycare ewes on Arran for the last 20 plus years. The first time I saw easycares was when I went to the Arran show in 2022.
