Things have been quiet on here! But to be honest, I have really enjoyed switching off from socials and having a bit of a break from thinking too much about the business.

I have had the chance to catch up on other things and recharge. Here is a bit of what I have been up to over the last month or so.

Celebrated my friend getting married! 🥳 A gorgeous day, full of love and laughter and lots of my fave people 🧡

Before that though it was the hen party! A weekend in Wales, with a total of FOUR fancy dress themes 😂 This was Taylor Swift night, and a great excuse to wear this dress again (isn't really an everyday outfit)

Menu testing! 👩‍🍳 I think about new dishes so often but when things are busy I just do not have the time to test, take photos, update menus. I worry that my menus become samey and boring...although of course most people are only eating it once! So I know it is only really repetitive to me! Even so, I have added lots of new boxed buffet options for Autumn/winter. Stay tuned! Wasn't very happy with the presentation of this, but it tasted delish 😋

Christmas canapé testing. If you are planning a festive party, look no further! 🎄

Making use of the van, collecting a wardrobe for Poppy. The van comes in so handy even for non-work related stuff. I love it!

Celebrating Poppy's 13th birthday 😱

Lots of lovely dog walks and exploring some new places further afield. This is Suki's bestie, Miley!

And then lots of cuddles and chill time on the sofa 🥹 Usually whilst I catch up on admin. Feel way more on top of things than I did a month ago!

Finally finished my weird and wonderful staircase. Still not sure on the colours. It was an idea that evolved as I went and I am not really sure how I ended up with a sagey green hallway (it isn't grey) but here we are.

And hung wallpaper for the first time ever! Also love these window stickers that made our old fashioned doors look a million times better.

Put some new picture shelves up (well, my lovely friend did!) 💕 Plant is hanging on for dear life. Love the tiger painted by Poppy a few years ago.

Realised my dream of going to Costa Rica is going to muy expensive! But very excited to have started proper planning! Please book Foodtopia so I can afford it 😆

And treated myself to a few new games! Struggled to get stuck into anything lately though. Recommendations welcome.

So there you go! A little snapshot of life recently. A bit different to my usual content! Let me know if you like it, or you are just here for the food 😉🥕

Our first ever wedding taster evening! And what a wonderful evening it was 🧡

An intimate gathering of 9 couples, 18 guests in total, and yet there was something about this event that felt so significant to me, perhaps even a highlight of my business journey so far.

I always want every wedding guest to leave happy, but ultimately I'm bringing one couple's vision to life. Usually there are just two people whose opinion carries the most weight. On Friday, there were eighteen.

Every single person in that room was trusting me with one of the biggest days of their lives.

There I was, someone who's comfortable cooking for 80-100 people, suddenly nervous about cooking for just 18!

Because what if they regretted booking me? What if my simple, home-cooked style didn't measure up to the beautifully plated food you see elsewhere?

Usually, when I have those moments of self-doubt before an event, I tell myself I just have to get through the day and do my best. But this time it wasn't even the main event, their weddings are. It felt like so much more was riding on it.

The good news... everyone loved the food 🥳

I received some absolutely wonderful comments, and it was so special to meet my couples before their wedding days, something I don't always get to do.

What I didn't expect was the renewed confidence I came away with.

To be honest, comparison & imposter syndrome creep in more often than I'd like to admit. Sometimes I compare myself to caterers with years more experience than me, or those creating beautifully refined dishes & using techniques I wouldn't have the confidence to offer. But we don't have to be like other caterers because we are not trying to offer the same thing. And Friday evening reminded me that my clients choose Foodtopia knowing exactly what we do.

I realised I need to embrace what we do best: sharing the food I love to cook, the experience we create as a team, and the warmth and relaxed atmosphere that comes with it.

The right couples aren't looking for someone else. They're looking for Foodtopia 🥕

So, to everyone who came on Friday, thank you! For your trust, kind words & enthusiasm. We cannot wait to be a part of your weddings!

I've noticed that canapés are often one of the first things couples consider cutting to save money when planning their wedding.

Whilst I completely understand that budgets can be tricky, I'd always encourage you to think carefully before dismissing these bite-sized delights.

🥕 Your guests spend far more time waiting around than the wedding couple usually realise. While you're having photos taken, they're standing around and waiting for the celebrations to continue.

🥕 Canapés encourage people to mingle, spark conversations and make your drinks reception feel like part of the celebration, rather than time spent simply waiting.

🥕 Wedding ceremonies often fall at awkward times of the day. Guests may have left home before lunchtime. By the time the drinks reception is underway, many are starting to feel pretty hungry, but the wedding breakfast might still be a way off. Canapés are the perfect bridge.

🥕 Most importantly, they make your guests feel welcomed and looked after from the very beginning.

We know canapés can feel like an added expense, but they're so much more than just a few bites of food. They create a relaxed atmosphere, keep everyone's energy up, and set the tone for the rest of your celebration.

Sometimes the smallest touches make the biggest difference 🧡
