Our cows produce excellent quality milk which, within a very short time, is processed in our state of the art dairy. Another wonderful Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show. Thank you to all the volunteers and the Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Society for putting on a great event. Thank you to all those who helped us in the run up to the show and on the day. Thank you to those of the team who stayed back at Ty Tanglwyst and kept the farm running. A special mention to our younger helpers, you were all fabulous! Well done to Harri Jones for bringing a bit of professionalism to our very amateur showing team! Plenty of rosettes and few silver cups were won. Tanglwyst Applejax Dora won Reserve Holstein Champion. Congratulations to all the other exhibitors, there was a wide variety of dairy breeds for show visitors to view. The judges did an excellent job and clearly explained to the large crowds watching on exactly what they were looking for in each class. We had a tent up with a fan running to keep the cows and heifers comfortable and in the shade. Hopefully we will be back again next year!

It is great to be involved in this conservation project, our first experience of bioacoustics! Devices located around Ty Tanglwyst Farm are listening to all the different bird songs and helping to further identify all the birds that are here. This project will complement the excellent work done by the volunteers of the Glamorgan Bird Club. Our farm land, hedgerows and ancient woodland provide wonderful habitat for a range of wildlife.

At Ty Tanglwyst Dairy we aim to support our local community in many ways. Being a film location for a BBC It's My Shout, short film production last year was a very hectic few days! This wonderful scheme helps people of all ages, especially young people, to get involved in all aspects of film making. If this is something that may be of interest to you, anyone in your family or friendship group then apply to get involved! There will be opportunities each year, in all areas of Wales.

Delighted to receive some certificates at the recent Holstein South Wales herds competition dinner. Our Tanglwyst Rose family did very well. Destry Rose in particular deserves a mention, she came second in a class for very special cows who have produced over 100,000 litres of milk in their lifetime. An amazing achievement which highlights the very best of the Holstein breed. Well done to all the farming families that entered the competition. Thank you as always, to the volunteers who oranginse and judge these important competitions. It's great to keep farming traditions like these going.

Lots of dairy producers competing at this year's Royal Welsh Show. We have had silver awards for both milk and cream! Well done to everyone who entered and thank you to all the organisers of the dairy produce section. The show is on until Thursday and is well worth a visit. It is a huge event!

With very little rain forecast we are busy tankering our milking parlour and dairy wash down water onto our recently sown legume silage. This crop of peas, barley and oats is in need of some water as the roots have not yet developed sufficiently to get to the moisture deeper in the soil. This crop will be winter feed for the heifers. We will need some rain 🌧 soon!

Water sprays are on in the cow shed here today keeping the cows cool during the heat wave. Grazing heifers have been moved to paddocks with plenty of trees for shade.
