Donkey update: things have been going well up here with Jodie, Belle & Ben’s bonding. They’ve been together sharing a space now for a couple of weeks. I wouldn’t say they are best friends yet, but things are positive.

A little more about Belle: She has COPD which is basically the equine form of asthma. This requires medication daily - twice daily and regular observation and monitoring. She is also susceptible to laminitis (as are our ponies and Jodie) so she needs extra care and consideration. This medication obviously adds to our running care costs which are already extremely high (anyone with animals will know this) and now with three donkeys and two ponies the cost of our equines are now quite high when you consider feed, bedding, dental treatment annually by the vets, vaccinations, regular hoof trimming by our farrier (5 x £40 every 10 weeks) , medication , vet visits etc.

If there are any Foxdown fans out there that would consider a donation towards our equine care - we’d be more than grateful. Please private message us if you would be able to sponsor some equine care.

Chocolate finally gave birth to a beautiful set of twins two weeks ago (apologies for the delayed update). Chocolate didn’t really know what to do to start with and would only feed them if Adrian stood next to her. Thankfully we are now past that stage and all doing well independently! Who knew they’d all come out with Tyler the Boer Billy Goats’ markings ! The gene must be strong 💪 And we’ve plonked an updated photo of Kane too - he’s got so big !

Another arrival has been Rosie - our new baby Continental Giant bunny 🐰 She’s a beautiful blue & white colour 😍🥰

Today was the last day of the May Half term for us. We’ve had an amazing half term here on our little farm - if not a little warm ☀️

We’d like to thank all of our visitors for coming this week - especially during the current heat wave. 🥵 We’ve had so much lovely, encouraging feedback from our visitors which is always nice to hear.

We’d like to thank 👏 our staff and volunteer team this week for delivering top quality care and service to all of our animals and visitors. Kate, James, Layla, Nieve, Melody, Poppy, Efi, Harry T - you’re all bloody fantastic and we couldn’t do this without amazing people like yourselves. 🙏

We shall now be back to term-time opening days/hours. Closed Wednesdays and Sundays. Foxdown Cubs discounted Parent/Carer & Baby/Toddler/Child sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays during term time between 10am-1pm.

Foxgloves Club on Thursday was great fun and the weather was much cooler and kinder to us compared with Tuesdays heat. Another fun-filled, animal-filled day 😆😍 Next dates for the summer holidays will be live to book on the website soon!

So visitors that been coming for a few years may remember Flopsy’s kid we named Frank who soon became ‘Free Range Frank’ because he was notorious for escaping any pen we put him in. And used to just wander around with visitors. Now these days fully grown, he only manages to find the effort / strength to escape occasionally.

Well …meet his younger sister of two years… this is Florrie who is following in her older brothers’ footsteps by constantly jumping over any pen we put her in , leaving her twin sister Flo alone and not really giving two hoots. Meanwhile Flo is pining for her. We’ve now officially given up. Florrie is now ‘Free Range Florrie’.

Tonight she took the liberty of sitting on the bench admiring the view. 🥰🤣😍

I ought to mention Florrie and Flo are seeking their new forever home !! 🏠 🤣
