Tomorrow morning Phil will be strapping in and skywalking atop the Brighton i360! 🌅🚶‍♂️ He’s taking on the heights to raise funds for our community work in East Brighton 💚🍲 — all proceeds help us keep gleaning, cooking, and feeding our community.

Huge thanks to Focus Foundation for organising this brilliant challenge 🙌✨ Expecting it to be exhilarating, a little terrifying, and a lot of fun 😅🎢 Wish him luck (and steady legs) for tomorrow! 🍀👀

As the summer heat soars once more, life in the kitchen can get a lot more challenging! As we gear up for another scorcher, we want to say huge thanks to our team - you rock! It says a lot about how amazing our team are that we ended the week smiling, thanks to Gladrags Costumes for the silly moment!

We fed well over 200 people last week and it was a pleasure to partner with Enjoolata Foundation , The Old Market and Brighton Table Tennis Club to bring our communal dining to new audiences across the city. Huge props to the Network of International Women for the incredible desserts too 😍 It was a joy to celebrate Refugee Week in such good company, we stand in solidarity with refugees and migrants from around the globe and around our table, always.

As ever, we couldn't have done it without the gorgeous surplus donations from Adams Foodservice , .london , Flint Owl Bakery and Bayit Bagels - we are so grateful 💚💚💚

So proud of our city yesterday. It was a joy to help keep everyone hydrated and be part of a day filled with love, humanity and dancing 💕

We have a rich history of resistance in Brighton. Did you know that when Oswald Mosely tried to speak in the Dome in the 1930s that local activists had wired up the chandelier to blast La Marseillaise during his speech? Brighton showed the same wit and warmth this weekend by creating a beautiful carnival and refusing to let fear win.

Thank you to our wonderful team for making such delicious elderflower cordial, to our community for showing that hate has no place here and to the fabulous Holly for excellent cargo bike manoeuvres!

Solidarity to Glasgow, Liverpool, Belfast and Sheffield who also came out in their numbers to keep their streets and communities safe ✊

Sometimes a nice summer evening walk is just what you need....sometimes you get a drenching 🌧️ 😂

But no regrets, as just past the ox eye daisies that crowd the roadside I took a turn guided by some excitable little robins and found the little slice of heaven that is 🌺🌹🌸🌷

Spring has been blooming in our hearts and on our plates at Sussex Surplus 💚💚💚 We have been so busy that we have hardly had a chance to tell you what we have been up to!

We've done delicious small plates at with the wonderful and Cooking the Books Live, canape events and weddings across the city and county, buffet lunches for other great community organizations and of course our weekly community meal. Thank you to everyone who has booked us - it's been a total pleasure to feed you all we really appreciate your support 👩‍🍳💖

Have we fed YOU though? Our communal dining runs again next Wednesday, just a few tickets left and we would love to see you there!

We’ve shared videos about our gleaning work, our free after-school meals, and now it’s time to tell you about our communal dining events! Here’s a 1 minute summary of our *Together at the Table* events 🧡

We’ve hosted 6 in the past 6 months, feeding and bringing together more than 500 people! We were even featured on with who explored the power of eating together in affordable, inclusive ways 🤩
