Today, on International Nurses Day, we want to recognise and thank the incredible nurses across the NHS who work tirelessly to care for patients every single day.

Project Complete: Boiler Replacement & Plantroom Upgrade at an Academy is Sussex

TSS Facilities are proud to have successfully delivered another full boiler plant replacement following the complete failure of the existing system.

Working within a live school environment, our team installed:

• 6 x 115kW high-efficiency condensing boilers
• 2500L buffer vessel for improved system performance
• New flue systems and upgraded pipework
• Advanced controls with BMS integration
• System protection including magnetic filters and air/dirt separation

One of the key challenges was maintaining uninterrupted hot water for the school. To achieve this, we installed a temporary boiler solution, ensuring zero downtime throughout the project.

Despite restricted access and the complexity of lowering a 500kg buffer vessel into a basement plantroom, the project was delivered safely, on time, and without disruption to staff or students.

Happy Easter Bank Holiday from TSS Facilities!

Today marks an exciting milestone for TSS Facilities

At our training facility, we successfully kicked off day one of training for our engineers, administrators and management team on our new job management system, Joblogic Service Management Software.

With multiple sessions held throughout the day, it was fantastic to see such strong engagement and enthusiasm from the team as everyone began getting up to speed.

Joblogic will play a key role in transforming how we operate, from improved job scheduling and real-time tracking to enhanced communication, streamlined workflows, and more accurate reporting.

It’s all about working smarter, boosting efficiency, and continuing to deliver a high-quality service to our clients.

This is another significant step forward as we move closer to our go-live date on 1st April

Productive Friday for TSS Facilities projects team!

A big milestone hit today down in Eastbourne as we successfully lifted a 3-tonne, 200kW AirCraft AHU (Air Handling Unit) into position. A key moment in this 7-8 week project.

This upgrade is all about delivering a more efficient and reliable heating solution for the site. The existing 90kW fan heater simply wasn’t cutting it, so we’re replacing it with a new recirculation Air Handling Unit with gas-fired heating and destratification fans to ensure even heat distribution across the space.

Scope includes:

• Full electrical supply, installation & commissioning
• Distribution board modifications, submains & final circuits
• Isolation, protection & controls throughout
• New gas system feeding the AHU + flue discharge
• Weatherproof AHU installation with ductwork, louvres & attenuators
• Advanced BMS control panel for monitoring, optimisation & weather compensation
• Independent controls for heating & destratification fans

The result? A system designed to maintain consistent 16°C internal temperatures through winter, improving comfort and efficiency across the facility.

Great work from the team getting this heavy lift completed safely and on schedule 👏

Emergency Heating Repair – Fast Turnaround in Central Brighton

Here’s a recent example of a smaller-scale emergency project we delivered as part of our long-term partnership with a Brighton based client.

- Location: Centre of Brighton
- Sector: Heating
- Client Relationship: 7-year long-term partnership

The Challenge

A 4-inch low carbon steel heating pipe had pinholed and was leaking excessively, causing central heating downtime in a live building — with weekend bookings fast approaching. The heating system needed to be fully operational before close of play Friday.

On top of that, we had to:
• Resource emergency labour at short notice
• Source specialist fittings not stocked locally (secured via overnight courier)
• Work within a tight pipe duct with limited access
• Operate safely in a live building environment

Our Approach

After attending site midweek to assess the issue, our team mobilised immediately.

✔️ Replaced 4-inch threaded low carbon steel pipework
✔️ Installed new low carbon steel pipework with GF black iron fittings & TEEKAY Axilock couplings
✔️ Downsized pipework from 4-inch to 3-inch to overcome space constraints within the duct
✔️ Conducted visual asbestos inspections prior to commencing works
✔️ Provided temporary heaters to maintain comfort levels

When a threading machine couldn’t be delivered directly to site, we adapted quickly, arranging delivery to our office, threading the pipework off-site, and transporting it ready for installation.

The Result

- Heating restored before the weekend
- Disruption minimised
- Improved system reliability
- Another successful rapid-response delivery by the TSS Facilities team

A big thank you to our management team, facilities coordinators and engineers for acting quickly at short notice to make this happen.
