Based in the vibrant city of Bristol, thespicery.com was started by James Ransome in 2005. His mission was to make spices as accesible and undaunting as possible for budding cooks everywhere. The summer heatwaves might be over, but as far as we’re concerned, it’s ALWAYS ice cream weather 🙌🍦So you can imagine how excited we were to receive this special delivery from the wonderful Kelly last week - ex-Spicery recipe developer, now the brains behind Jean ! These indulgent ice cream sandwiches are made in small batches using the very best ingredients, inspired by some of the puddings Kelly grew up loving - Sticky Toffee Custard Cream, Silky Vanilla Parfait and Black Cherry stracciatella 😍 Every single flavour was 10/10, and this was the perfect end-of-month treat to mark the end of a hot, hot, hot summer at The Spicery! Bristol-based food lovers, keep an eye out for this sweet treat! 👀

August’s free sample is sweet & sour tomato curry! 🍅 This simple South-Indian style curry is a fantastic way to use up a glut of summer tomatoes, and looks spectacular (whilst also being very easy to make)! Cooking half of the tomatoes with the spices creates a rich tangy sauce, and the reserved tomatoes added towards the end give a lovely fresh flavour and texture. Delicious topped with crushed toasted peanuts or cashews, and served with plain rice and some simple green veg or dal! 🍛 Included with every order placed on our website - plus, don’t forget to use the code NEWSITE10 to get 10% off! 🙌

Congratulations to Amy E for being chosen as our Wall of Fame winner for July! 🏆 This month’s winning dish was yogurtlu kebab, which consists of fried pitta bread topped with juicy lamb kofta, a simple tomato sauce, a drizzle of yogurt and finally hot spiced butter on top - add some fries to the side and you’ve got yourself the perfect fun Friday night feast! Don’t just listen to us... Amy said it was one of the most delicious things she’s ever eaten 😲 High praise indeed! Today is National Bee Day! 🐝 The day is designed to raise awareness about the vital role that bees and other pollinators play in our ecosystem and food production.
