Elm Tree Farm A care farm in Bristol, offering support for people with learning disabilities, part of Brandon Trust

Tucked away on a 37 acre site in Stapleton, Elm Tree Farm is a small working farm and one of Bristol’s hidden treasures. On our site, we breed a variety of livestock including cattle, lambs, pigs and chickens. We also grow a wide range of produce including fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers using organic horticultural methods, and our Splinters project produces a number of wooden products for the home and garden. All our produce can be bought from our onsite farm shop which is open Monday -Saturday from 10.00am – 5pm

We’re also a thriving social enterprise and Care Farm, providing support and training to adults with learning disabilities and who are autistic. We are part of Brandon Trust, a leading learning disability charity. Our aim is to promote transferable work skills and independence of the people that come to the farm, and enable them to become a valued member of their local community through contributing to the local food economy and getting involved in local events.

Hello all 👋
Despite the wet weather we still have some beautiful colours from our Dahlias and Cosmos and a few others in corners of the Nursery … we have been busy planting up bulbs for next year , tulips and Daffs and we will have some lovely Paperwhites available to buy around Christmas time,we have been sowing our own saved seeds and our germination rate is great 👍🏻
Our farm sown foxgloves are doing great and will be ready for next year.
We have had to put away our Cannas and Aeoniums as the temp is dropping now and they don’t like the cold ..
Nursery is open all week if you need a flower or plant fix and any other needs like repotting your house plants or wanting a soil mix to do your own at home.

The animal care team have been sorting out the ewes ready for breeding.

We marked the ones to breed with red which the co farmers helped with and we checked all their feet and trimmed them down.

This is essential for the health and wellbeing of our sheep the co farmers get stuck in and help us to hold and catch them🐑✂️

This Halloween period has been an inspiring time in the Splinters workshop, allowing our co-farmers' unique creative voices to shine through. We have seen amazing teamwork, problem-solving, dedication, and independent working. It's been fantastic to watch individuals support one another, overcome challenges, and bring their ideas to life with confidence and enthusiasm.

Over the past couple of weeks the co farmers in animal care have worked so hard to create a better more entertaining and enriching area for the goats

The co farmers deep cleaned,weeded , painted,mowed and built.

We are so impressed and proud of them the goats now have a lovely home that the co farmers have named goat villa

Splinters Wood Workshop team has been busy crafting a hauntingly beautiful collection of hand‑made Halloween decorations — each one created from reclaimed wood with skill, imagination, and a touch of mischief.

We are very happy to share an exciting collaboration between Splinters Wood-workshop and Sustainable Kitchens.

Thanks to their generous donation of plywood and wood offcuts, our workshop will be buzzing with creativity.

These reclaimed materials will be transformed into handcrafted items such as candle holders, soap dishes, coat hooks and picture frames by our talented co-farmers in the workshop.

It is partnerships like these that help us reduce waste and inspire our team to improve and learn new skill.
