Elm Tree Farm

Elm Tree Farm A care farm in Bristol, offering support for people with learning disabilities, part of Brandon Trust

Tucked away on a 37 acre site in Stapleton, Elm Tree Farm is a small working farm and one of Bristol’s hidden treasures. On our site, we breed a variety of livestock including cattle, lambs, pigs and chickens. We also grow a wide range of produce including fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers using organic horticultural methods, and our Splinters project produces a number of wooden products for th

e home and garden. All our produce can be bought from our onsite farm shop which is open Monday -Saturday from 10.00am – 5pm

We’re also a thriving social enterprise and Care Farm, providing support and training to adults with learning disabilities and who are autistic. We are part of Brandon Trust, a leading learning disability charity. Our aim is to promote transferable work skills and independence of the people that come to the farm, and enable them to become a valued member of their local community through contributing to the local food economy and getting involved in local events.

Small moments, big impact. Every chat, activity and shared laugh makes a difference. Our volunteers help create opportunities, build confidence, and ensure people feel valued and included. If you have visited the farm recently in this hot weather you might have noticed the horses walking around with these funny looking masks on.

These masks serve an important purpose keeping the flys out of the horse’s face and eyes. Horseflies are a big nuisance to our horses and cause them a lot of bother. By wearing these masks along with some fly spray our horses are happy to go about their day without being bitten or bothered.

As you can see Bagpipe and Bonnie are modelling two different types of mask. Both doing exactly the same thing. (Bagpipe wearing the dark blue and Bonnie wearing the light blue.) 🐴 🪰 🐴

The horses will be ready to meet and greet everyone at our Open Farm Event this Sunday!

Nothing beats a snooze in the sun!

Meet our Leicester Longwools lambs who were born earlier this Spring. Our Leicesters Longwools are easy to spot in the field as they are the only black sheep we have if you visit us.

The Leicester Longwool Sheep are currently sitting in the top priority category of the RBST watchlist as there are less than 500 registered ewes. The breed comes in both white and black colouring and produce fantastic fleeces which is highly sort after. We hope to support the breed in the future and help add to the flock book.
