GROUSE DINNER AT CAVE

Tuesday 8 September

Three courses · £60 per person

Grouse season is short, and it would be a shame not to make something of it.

On Tuesday 8 September Charlie will be cooking a one off, three course menu built around grouse and the first flavours of autumn.

Joining us for the evening will be guest sommelier Rory Eaton, formerly head sommelier at the two Michelin starred restaurant Ynyshir. Rory will be pulling some special bottles from the cellar to pour by the glass - wines we wouldn’t usually open unless the occasion called for it.

There will only be a small number of seats, so booking is essential.

There’s still seriously good Chardonnay to be found without spending Burgundy money.

For just over £20 Toques & Clochers Haute Vallée Chardonnay 2024 comes from the cooler, high-altitude vineyards of Limoux in the foothills of the Pyrenees, a proper, mineral, beautifully balanced Chardonnay that offers ridiculous value for money.

Jancis Robinson recently tasted it blind alongside 26 of the world’s leading Chardonnays for the Financial Times. She gave it 17.5/20, her joint-highest score of the tasting, putting this modestly priced Limoux alongside bottles costing well over £200.

Her verdict: “Complete and persistent”.

Proof that great Chardonnay really doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

A small allocation from one of the Jura’s most sought-after producers has just landed.

The wines of Jean-François Ganevat are celebrated for their incredible purity, energy and rarity, with bottles disappearing almost as quickly as they’re released.

We’ve managed to secure a handful of bottles, now available on our website and in-store. Link in bio
