Fernhill Farm - An Arcadian Place to Stay Exclusive hire Party barns with on-site accommodation and gathering spaces at our Regenerative Farm

Andrew acquired Fernhill farm in 1997 in a dilapidated state ruined stone barns, hedgerows overgrown, walls unrecognisable & a single water trough to serve the whole farm. Rehabilitating the landscape under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) & Higher Level Entry Scheme (HLS) guidelines, almost 20 years later Fernhill is an efficient livestock breeding farm, walls & hedge are re-established

& our house is a family home again. Andrew & Jen with their two sons Kyle & Seth are establishing their long-term plans to rehabilitate this landscape, installing renewable energy systems, whilst maintaining holistic livestock management practices. The sheds, barns, pods, fields & woodlands all offer facilities where others can share our freedom, learn the ways of the countryside & enjoy the great nutirional taste of home produced real meals. Fernhill is "An Arcadian Place to Stay" - an Experience worth investing for the future of an emerging Consumer Revolution...

We may have only just finished shearing but our event season is already in full swing as we welcome many up the hill to be together as wild weekend groups - it's been a lot of years in the making - redesigning, rebuilding, reusing, recycling and rediscovering what people like, and we have 20 years experience of hosting, offering our farm as a safe happy place where people are welcome to enjoy space in nature, seek refuge from the weather, sleep, eat, dine, and dance as one, until the day is done ... this Summer is our very first Fernhill Festival so if you wish to contribute to the continued, slow rebuild of this ancient farmstead, we have always raised funds by sharing our world with others, know how to put on a good party and will always choose to work hard at making it the right way, which means we get to rest and play in the most enjoyable way too - few ticket options left if you wanted to join our party here on 26th - 28th June 2026 Fernhill Farm Fernhill Fibre – Sheep Fleece & Fibres Fernhill Festival

Summer @ Fernhill Farm
Announcing our Fernhill Festival

All started with a fallow Glastonbury year, on Kyle’s 21st Birthday, with Jen gate-crashing his party ideas to celebrate being 50 years, (as an Aries, have always been lambing on my birthday), Andy reaching the average age of a UK farmer, and so many other locals having big birthdays too this year … and now we have our 1st Fernhill Festival, after 29 years of hosting

Designed for friends to bring friends to for reunions, big birthday treats, beautiful gatherings and just because we can …....

Head on over to .flocked.inn and find more details on www.fernhillfestival.uk as we zoom into June and begin to reveal our plans

The farm yards are nearly ready to create space for you party revellers to head up to the top of the Mendip Hills to enjoy our full moon weekender - oh and by the way, administration is not what it's all about here, so if you have any questions, you know where to find us .....

Busy in the fields, always on our phone, making magic happen on the lovely land we share with so many each year

Right on time ... we have finished lambing on the 15th May 2026 with two more of our favourite sheep here .... bright white Romneys ... wonderful season again ... time to relax and escape the fields for just a little bit before festival season starts here in a couple of weeks time - thank you all for patiently waiting for return calls and emails etc as there is nothing quiet like lambing 800 ewes in 4 weeks as well as attending 3 off-farm wool events, hosting 3 sheep shearing courses, sending out over 35 postal orders and opening up our party venues and accommodation units for our new-season events business again ... we are surely bonkers here

Five Trilpets before 7am this morning so we are again looking to rehome many orphans this weekend - we had over 50 trilpets scanned and 20 orphans all doing well in our shed - combination of Romney, Wensleydale, BFL half bred breeds on offer, both rams and ewe lambs born outside since 15th April - I'm on [email protected] or ideally message on 07903584695 from Fernhill Farm BS406LD thanks

Our ewes are lambing again - due from the 15th April, our next four weeks here will look a lot like this every day so if your planning your event with us, this year or next, please spare a thought for moments like these - when we say we are busy, don't get into our office to reply to emails, cannot pick up the phone, miss messages, cannot attend planning meetings etc ... nothing matters as much as a baby being born at that moment - it can be any moment too, three days early or when you want to call us - apologising now in advance as lambs only get that one chance to breathe ... see you on the other-side of lambing 2026

Friday Reflections from Working With Wool for the in the field event:
A few days have passed since we welcomed over 75 delegates here on the farm to celebrate our textile heritage, all with thanks to the humble sheep (and cow) that have helped create our communities all around the globe since we first domesticated these gentle animals many moons ago - what a week it was too ... the brightest light, the warmest days, perfect starry nights, cosy campfires, woolly tuffets, fabulous feasts, packed-out yoga, inspiring speakers, workshops dedicated to WOOL, curious questions, honest conversation, love and laughter, connection, determination, kindness and above all else ... gratification that we are still here, able to share the story of our lives with hope that we can make a difference to the future of others who live from the land, love their livestock and can seek a natural way through the complexity of our modern day existence - huge thanks to everyone who made this week a beautiful place for communication exchange .pasture.leather

Annual pilgrimage of pregnant ewes taking their time from their post-shearing woody bramble patches on the sheltered side of the Mendip Hills, up and over the top into their lambing paddocks on a calm Easter Sunday.
A beautiful day to gather gently and walk slowly over 400 Romneys (only 1 needed a lift) up through the woodlands, along the drove and into paddocks full of fresh Spring grass, closer to the shepherds ready to keep a watchful eye on these ladies as they begin to lamb down in clean pastures next week - it took 8 minutes of quiet meandering for this mob to walk through this gate, hardly a bleat between them as they know their pace and that slow and steady means grabbing mouthfuls of lush green stems along their way to the top - we too grabbed handfuls of wild garlic as we say thanks to our oldest dog here Weave the boarder collie who has just the right, steady pace for these ewes on this job - great shepherding team from

Tomorrow we have lots of things to enjoy from the farm:

23 new sheepskins arriving today
Fleeces for spinners, weavers, dyers, creators
Meat boxes for Easter weekend
Duck eggs from Kyle & Nancy - proven as fertile as 4 have hatched in our house already, one pipping now too 🙂
Hen eggs from Paula our neighbour
Picking fresh salad, chard and spinach leaves today
A few potted plants ready for your own gardens too

The coffee pot will be on from 11am - 3pm if you want to pop in for our Good Friday Fleece Sale

23 sheepskins arriving here today .... ready for our GOOD FRIDAY FLEECE SALE - whoop whoop

Always super exciting to receive our skins back from the tannery as we get to cuddle our sheep forever more and no matter how many times we have blade shorn their wool to release them from previous years tangling damp fibres, when they join us in our homes or ride with us in our vehicles, fluffy hides instantly become treasured dog, cat and cosy cuddle rugs, worn as shoulder shrugs, enjoyed as meditation mats - however you choose to use your own new sheep, they are always loved forever more, and this helps us, knowing our sheep maintain joy in this world

All animals choose fluffy sheep wool to rest upon at every opportunity ... and have done for millennia

Opening the boxes this morning when they arrive is a special way to wake up this Spring time as the sun arises over the top of Mendip

Tomorrow you can pop in anytime to browse our latest selection from 11am - 3pm as we are hanging out in our shearing shed, sharing our passion for all things SHEEP .

GOOD FRIDAY FLEECE SALE is another great little tradition that occurs each year as we offer a second day to browse our fleeces before they head off to the shows, and/or we select to offer online.
From 11am - 3pm this Friday, you're welcome to come into our sheep shearing shed and talk to a tiny team here about what you're looking to find and we are here to help.
- we have organic Romney, shearling Lustre with a focus on BFL curls in all the native shades, plus the wonderful Wensleydale, bright white Teeswater and unmistakable Leicester Long Wool curls here in part or whole fleeces, skirt and spray curls, semi felted and tender rug fleeces, sample boxes, and washed locks - it's a very simple day, with light refreshments, maybe a bit of blade shearing, time to chat, browse, and enjoy planning your new Easter weekend project.
You can also pop across to our mini display shop as we have lots of gifts and clothing available too, alongside our meat box treats - this week we have two mendip mutton meat freezer boxes available at 7.5kg or 9kg, 2 lovely big gammons to cook as hams, plus all our usual breakfast and bbq options - first time ever we will have home-grown duck eggs in the shop, thanks to kyle & Nancy, plus freshly harvested salads, spinach and chard, potted plants, and magic mulch to help your gardens grow.
Please leave your dogs at home as our 5 working sheep dogs are free to roam their home turf and we shall look forward to a gentle day enjoying fleeces
