🌞 A beautiful sunny day just got even better here at Bury Hill Farm !

We’ve been closely monitoring our heifer Sandy, with today marked as her due date to calve — and right on cue, she began calving this morning. We quietly observed from a distance as she delivered her calf completely unassisted. Moments later, she was on her feet, gently cleaning and bonding with her newborn — a true natural and a wonderful first-time mum.

To top it all off, it’s a gorgeous heifer calf ! We couldn’t be more delighted.

Selling tomorrow at GTH - Agriculture & Sedgemoor Auction Centre - Greenslade Taylor Hunt 3 cracking freshly calved Jersey heifers -

Lot 68 Buryhill Littlestar Tequila - a lovely strong heifer with a pedigree to match. Shown very successfully as a youngster, calved 03/01/25 and milking well.

Lot 69 & 70 Two extremely nice heifers that a maternal sisters by embryo transfer from Sunnydawn Krunch Narina EX94(7) - calved 01/01/25 and 03/01/25, very well put together heifers with cracking udders, lovely and quiet, both milking well.

The weather aside we’ve had a great day here at Buryhill Jerseys, in the post this morning we received the Jersey All Britain Awards in which our lovely cow “Buryhill Engineers Rumour Lula” won Reserve Champion All Britain and this afternoon we had a visit from the Classifier scoring a few of our cattle – “Buryhill Tequila Brightfuture” achieved VG85 and our Bull “Buryhill Littlestar Rumour” EX92 - maximum score as a 3 year old !!!

The Rumour name & family play a large part in our herd, after purchasing two full sisters Brightfure Rumour Has It & Rumour Had It as foundation females when starting our herd and they have had a major impact on our success breeding quality animals as well as in the show ring, shown again with the results achieved today.
